I don't know, I guess it would depend on the circumstances. If the abuse is happening in public, I would think the abuser is doing something wrong. However, the chances of my being the only witness is very slim.
The way I see it is that, my responsibility is to go to school and get good grades right now. Not being the 'neighborhood watchdog'.
No one said you should be anything similar to the neighborhood watchdog. You said that if you witnessed someone abusing their child, you'd turn a blind eye. If you for some reason witnessed someone whom you could report to the authorities abusing their child and did not report it, you are an awful human being. That is a social and moral responsibility.
The meat industry is trying to effectivise their lobbying, so Sobotnik is actually an early prototype of an invention that registers users on forums for the purpose of making arguments about vegetarians. He can't possibly relate to the phenomenon of "growing up"!
possible
more likely sobotnik is just a upper-class teenager who hates people because someone said his drawings or paintings were bad
Find it disturbingly odd, though I imagine it may not be as uncommon as I think. That a Vegan of all people joins the Military (Under the assumption he is going to be/ has been taught to kill people)
It's more than just learning to kill, it's also how to protect your country and how to survive in the wild with minimum equipment and essentials.
It's not always just about killing.
Leave a dead fish next to her bed.
When she asks why, claim that you were trying to respect her feelings and decided to free it from the pet store.
My guess is that all you care about is what people think about you?
I wonder how Sobotnik grew up, because all I see him do is make disagreeable arguments.
Not really, what makes you think that?

Im sorry :x
I guess I'm weird like that. However, the more I think of it, the more I think you never know what you'll do until the situation actually arises, you know what I mean? Plus, I dont even know why the person in the letter brought that up. The problem is that the two roommates don't like each others eating habits. Since they both pay rent, they should compromise. Like in the fridge, each person gets their own shelf/drawer.

Of course. Didn't mean to imply it was just about that. My point was someone against pain/ suffering/ "murder" and whatever else of animals becoming someone capable potentially of checking out people.

In principle, the vegan would only be fighting against other soldiers who have made the conscious choice to fight and possibly die.
Vegans must be fucked up in the head, they care more about the mindless husks that make cheese, than they do the immigrants picking their vegetables for less pay than they deserve.

That's a terrible argument though, because you can criticize virtually everyone in the developed world for taking advantage of cheaper labour prices in third world countries.
And even with the people who do support charity, you can criticize them for creating a system of dependency to enslave the third worlders.
Should call a few friends over and make one of these Epic Meal Time foods, and make sure the vegan gets home in time to see them eating it

i keep on reading it as
"see, this is why people hot vaginas"
and then i just cant resist clicking
For breakfast I had sausages, for lunch I had salami, and for dinner I had beef. GOOD DAY MAN
This is like anything else. You're going to have extremists in every kind of way of life, may it be personal habits or belief systems. But I don't think it's fair to generalize about all Vegans this way.
Hilarious thread, poor choice of title.
You brung it all upon yourself when you decided to move in with a Vegan.

All I can say is that nowadays, veganism is almost looking like a religion.

A good number of those can be produced without having to use an animal.

vegetarians are missing out
I'm conscientious and I choose not to eat vegetables. Unlike animals, vegetables are sentient creatures.

There is not a single thing on that list that can't be made in a vegan manner
In fact, most of the things on the list usually are produced without animal products.
In double fact, I think some of it is a blatant lie as I don't know of any cement that has cow in it.
My mom's a vegan.
I'm allowed to eat meat, but yesterday she replaced my hot dog with a smart dog.
I spitted it out immediately when I tasted it.
I'm also not allowed to drink soda.

I've had meatless hot dogs before and they actually tasted better to me than normal ones
normal hot dogs taste like slaughterhouse floor scrapings mixed with poop

You've never tried a New York street-vendor hotdog then. It tastes like magic.

that's your opinion
i'm all cool with people being vegans/vegetarians but it's really illogical to do so
it's even more illogical to say that they live healthier lives

It's funny because a plant will actually release ethylene gas whenever they are physically stressed, showing that they might be somewhat sentient.

well vegan is about eating
saying there's no such thing as a vegan because wallpaper is made of animal hooves is besides the point

depends on how you use the word illogical
if me being vegetarian is somehow illogical compared to eating meat and suffering from gastrointestinal issues then i do think it's time to reanalyze logic

Ever consume anything sweetened with sugar?
Even natural cane sugar is almost universally whitened. Bone char from livestock is used as part of the bleaching process.
Various alcoholic beverages contain sturgeons parts and a few other animal products in order to obtain the color they want.
Virtually anything drink related that is the color pink comes from dead bugs.
This list goes on and on. I read an article a while back in which a woman followed one pig from the slaughterhouse to the several hundred products that the pig wound up in. It as actually really a refreshing read because you always have this picture of modern society being totally wasteful with livestock, but capitalism has seen to the exact opposite. The native Americans have nothing on how completely we use animals now.
