That looks REALLY difficult to use for gaming. Not to mention the depressing feeling that you just paid for what's just a big plastic block with buttons really far apart.
This is kind of a natural skill for anyone who uses the PC a lot. Right now i've written everything with barely a glance to make sure. So, yeah, it's great. But even better if you have a keyboard with a backlight, imo.

Any good flash game to measure your typing speed? I'm probably average but I'd still like to know :P
It's alright to do that, if you need a bit of reassurance, than do it.
I usually do it when I begin to mess up a lot. Ruins my coordination if I don't look at the keys then.
I can touch type without backlite, I just search up the F with the little mark on the key.
I can tell that touch typing is an essential skill especially when you enter collage.
I can type fine without touch typing. The IT class we had at school made us do this mini course on it , I was like "this feels so fucked up". I typed slower than normal. That's kinda the opposite of what is supposed to happen.
I have that keyboard. I've used it for years now, it's great.
High five buddy, I stole mine from my Dad who had RSI. Probably wasn't the nicest thing to do, but this keyboard is worth it.
Any good flash game to measure your typing speed? I'm probably average but I'd still like to know :P
I already posted it. We're all racing on it.
When I was in the 6th grade the typing teacher tried to make me learn this and I told her to fuck off. I could type three times as fast as she could.
Dang I though I typed fast but on typeracer I am way behind on the top list score thing. I typed that in 4 seconds. I guess that's slow?
I apparently play games too much because I tend to use Shift, A, W, D, and Space as the home keys for my left hand. =P

I feel like a nerd.
It truly is BS. People will claim that you must type this way to type fast and without looking. Its BS. My teachers said that if I didn't use their way that they would put a piece of paper over my hands because they thought I couldn't type without looking. They learned a lesson when I told them to do it.
Yeah, eventually everyone develops their own style, but if you want to type elitely, you need to at least start off with homerow and then develop your own style.

I only got 62 wpm on TypeRacer, and I have used computers since I was 7 :(
I type this way just because it's easier to me. Homerow is definitely the best way to learn at first though. Personally, I type with my pointers resting on the "f" and "j" keys, and my pinkies resting on "a" and ";", the others are poised in the air ready to LASH OUT at any other keys that need pressing.
Yeah, eventually everyone develops their own style, but if you want to type elitely, you need to at least start off with homerow and then develop your own style.
My method is off the home row keys, I just don't keep my hands constantly hovering them. I keep them in shift, s, d, f, k, o, p, and enter when I have them on the keyboard. Don't know why though.
I can mostly type without looking, but occasionally, I have to look down.
I learned this shit at school. Was quite boring and very annoying. [editline]07:45PM[/editline] But useful nontheless.
I never look at my keyboard when I'm typing. As an example, I'm not looking at my keyboard right now.
My WPM is 60ish, and people at my school still thinks it's fast
I average about 65 wpm. Good enough for me.
I just got 85 WPM without an h key. I ctrl+c'd an h key and then press ctrl+v whenever I need to type an "h."
