I've been gone all day and haven't watched the stream. Anyone else watching? I don't believe this exactly, but it's so far the first I've heard
Yeah people on Tumblr and Twitter have been known to make shit up (or least HEAVILY exaggerate) and/or take stuff out of context in order to drag people they don't like. So take this image with a huge grain of salt.
It's just straight up SJWs and Leftists freaking the fuck out. I have gone about 2 hours into the stream myself and not found one thing that is even an inkling of what he is accused. Also Sargon is not a right wing asshole. Just take the initiative and listen to any of his videos and you will find that is a load of shit.
Can someone recap whats going on?
jontron has opinions people are outraged
Can someone recap whats going on?
Im only half way through the stream but my take is this: Jontron went on a stream with Sargon of Akkad (Youtube Commentator/Vlogger/Anti-SJW). Him, Sargon and some other guys have a well reasoned discussion about the state of politics, gaming, media, and society. They voice concerns about political discourse, censorship, propaganda, and Trump. Basically it's a calm discourse about the current state of (insert concern here). It's honestly a pretty good listen, which you should definitely do because it is extremely hard to summarize (they jump around a lot). TL;DR Jontron decided to weigh in on his thoughts on politics, media, censorship, etc. No he has not become a Neo-Nazi.
I hate shit like this so much.
Can someone recap whats going on?
JonTron said something was retarded, and now the twitter is mad at him. (Again). It all started with a picture of one of the protests where women were leaving messages in maxi pads and taping them up in public places, and JonTron questioning why they'd do that. Then everyone started attacking him for not understanding the symbolism, so he continued to fight back. Now here we are.
I hate shit like this so much.
Welcome to my world when dealing with a few people on here. :v: Have slightly different opinions on issues? You have to be a fascist, Nazi, or some kind of hurtful monster.
[t]https://pbs.twimg.com/media/C3Oo59lUMAAJuB7.jpg:large[/t]
PBG throwing Jontron under the bus like that made me lose a lot of respect for him.
PBG throwing Jontron under the bus like that made me lose a lot of respect for him.
PBG is a real nice guy in RL, but watching his arguments on FB with some of the guys I know and myself, I am not surprised. He wasn't really into any of this kind of shit before, but I guess moving to Seattle from Texas can do that sometimes or that the election was that polarizing you are willing to lose friends.
He wasn't really into any of this kind of shit before,
dunno if you mean "into politics" but he seems very well read on cultures and politics so he's been into it for i assume quite a while. he's just been quiet with his opinions.
the elections were definitely that polarizing
I genuinely couldn't look at people the same way for a few days after the Trump win and at least one of the more reasonable people I know went ahead and said "Yeah, I feel the same way" when I told them that. This election has done a great job at radicalizing people and destroying friendships.
dunno if you mean "into politics" but he seems very well read on cultures and politics so he's been into it for i assume quite a while. he's just been quiet with his opinions.
Yeah, I mean politics. He was quieter. The guy would come out to my LAN parties and just play Nintendo games or talk about making videos. Wasn't till this election and after he moved to Seattle that he got out to talk about politics.
Yeah, I mean politics. He was quieter. The guy would come out to my LAN parties and just play Nintendo games or talk about making videos. Wasn't till this election and after he moved to Seattle that he got out to talk about politics.
i'm confused why you keep saying this like this, he doesn't live in seattle anymore. he lives in new york right now. after he moved to new york he became far more vocal with his views. he disconnected himself from the game grumps crowd at that time.
He's talking about PBG.
while i dont suggest you watch his videos because the way he formats it is incredibly boring hes an example of someone being lumped into a group they on the surface fit in with he bashes retards on the right wing constantly, in the same way he does the left
Do you have any videos of him doing this? I was subscribed to him for awhile because before the 2016 election I thought he made quality content and it was mostly bashing feminists, SJW's, leftists et al. He would occasionally talk about being a classical liberal and believing in a social safety net but I very rarely heard him outright dog anyone on the right nearly as hard as he dogs nameless internet SJWs. I listen to people far more right-wing-fringe than him so I don't really have a problem with his opinions but it seemed like he only trotted out the "classical liberal" stuff when people directly called him a crazy right winger or whatever.
[thumb]https://pbs.twimg.com/media/C3Oo59lUMAAJuB7.jpg[/thumb] dunno if thats an actual quote but if it is i'd agree that's a pretty shitty thing to say.

I can sort of understand what he might be trying to say though, despite it being a tad uncomfortable and a very simple outlook on a very complicated problem, like, people can't stay in a country that's torn up by war, because they very much might die, but Jon might think that perhaps the country won't get better if people leave the country, it's only going to get worse and while that might be an extremely simplified way of thinking about a very multifaceted problem, I really don't think he meant any malice by it. Though apparently he wants to get into these topics a bit more, flesh his opinions out, so I'll wait for that before I make any sort of judgement, even then it would be one opinion that I disagree with out of many that I agree with, but, hell, I've watched bits and pieces of that livestream and his opinions seem very level headed, I really don't see the problems people have with him now, despite the fact that he's apparently associating himself with someone who people seem to disagree with, I mean people are calling him a SEXIST PIG, Racist double crossing nazi for having pretty balanced views on certain heavy topics and even seems mature enough to want to talk about them instead of acting like PBG and trying to completely dissociate with Jontron over one mixed opinion, or like some of his supposed viewer base who are straight up unsubscribing because they caught wind that he was a nazi now apparently. Of which most of them probably didn't even gave enough of a crap to look shit up for themselves and instead turned on him because he was talking to what I hear is the Big Bad right leaning Sargon in certain circles, whomever this Sargon is, he really didn't seem all that bad when talking to Jontron, like I said before, a lot of, if not most of his views are very VERY level headed and he's as left leaning in his political stance as the best of us, but people are turning on him for one or two bad, perhaps misspoken or not as in depth as he would have liked or straight up taken the wrong way opinions. Which to me is ridiculous.
I was listening to it last night and im pretty sure that quote is actually in reference to Mexico, and also lacks the context behind it, and also forgets the part where Jon and the other guys discuss it and try to understand all of it.

There's also a 2 hour stream called "A Critical Perspective on Liberalism with The Distributist". Generally Sargon's attitude seems to be that critiquing the left is more of a priority because he's more interested in the left improving. Honestly I just stick to his streaming channel. We probably shouldn't turn this into a Sargon thread.

I mean it is the same thing I want and always said. A better Left side, but it is so bad right now. The Justice Democrats is a good idea, but with Cenk leading it, I am not hopeful.
Welcome to my world when dealing with a few people on here. :v: Have slightly different opinions on issues? You have to be a fascist, Nazi, or some kind of hurtful monster.
To be fair you post a lot of political videos and it gets a bit tiresome
To be fair you post a lot of political videos and it gets a bit tiresome
Oh I know, but look at Jontron doing only like 1/8 of what I did and how much shit he is getting for it. I atleast don't just get called immediately a Nazi/Fascist like that on here.
Yeah, I mean politics. He was quieter. The guy would come out to my LAN parties and just play Nintendo games or talk about making videos. Wasn't till this election and after he moved to Seattle that he got out to talk about politics.
probably because this election really showcased how insane the American right really is.
There's a 4 hour stream of his discussing why the Justice Democrats might be a good way of reforming the left. There's also a 2 hour stream called "A Critical Perspective on Liberalism with The Distributist".
You'll forgive me for not being able to watch a 4 or 2 hour stream at the moment but does he actually criticize the right at all in those? That was the original claim that I found to be personally unsupported.
Generally Sargon's attitude seems to be that critiquing the left is more of a priority because he's more interested in the left improving.
Which is fine, like I said I have no problem with him criticizing the left. I just think it's somewhat disingenuous to say he hits the right just as hard. He pays lip service to the right and will occasionally punch down to libertarianism because it's an easy target but he very rarely attacks people or parties on right wing politics. Just the opposite, as Tudd's video shows, he will approve of behavior the right does even if it's the same thing he rips the left for doing.
Luckily one of his shorter and newer videos here.
I mean case in point, he spends 80% of the video criticizing blanket "the left" and says some of Trump's executive orders are "contentious". He outright approves of Spicer's attitude during the first press conference because "democrats did it first". This video perfectly encapsulates why I don't watch Sargon anymore and it has nothing to do with his criticism of the left or Democrats because I mostly agree with those, it's his constant fence-sitting and defense of Trump and his administrations behavior that totally runs at odds to what he has been endorsing on his channel through his crusade against ideological purity on the left.
]I mean it is the same thing I want and always said. A better Left side, but it is so bad right now. The Justice Democrats is a good idea, but with Cenk leading it, I am not hopeful.
I don't know why when you have shown no real attachment to anything resembling left-wing politics and constantly generalize them using cherrypicked examples of zealots.
I think people are getting pissed at Jon because a little before this he also did an interview with Breitbart of all people. Maybe people are concerned that he's turning right? (even though that makes absolutely 0 sense and Jontron was probably just offered an interview because it's pretty obvious he's wanted to talk about this)

Gamergate was attacked relentlessly as being an alt-right/conservative movement because it just so happened that the only people giving supporters airtime were alt-right or conservative sources.
Where can I watch the stream? Sounds like some juicy youtuber drama I need to get on
