I think Jon not being as loud as he usually is is just a development of his comedy. He's not turned up to 11 all the time cause we'd get bored of it, and it'd overstay it's welcome. When he can find comedy in simple conversation I think that's the strongest way to handle it. Though I liked this episode cause it had a lot more freakout moments. It's been sprinkled in the past few episodes and I don't think we'll ever reach a level of Banjo Kazooie unless we get games like this which are so nonsensical.

The Space Odyssey gag out of nowhere made me choke, though.

Jontron normally doesn't do any PC games besides adventure games. And he was specifically talking about shmups from the golden age of shmups.

New episode was pretty meh; I hope he goes back to making videos focused on one game because these compilations seem to lack focus and effort imo.

Going back and watching some old JonTron after watching new JonTron is weird. His sense of humor has changed entirely. Don't get me wrong, new Jon stuff isn't necessarily bad, but I miss back when it was more amature and had more, I don't know, genuine feeling behind it? I also miss how Jon used to actually talk about problems in a game and how they apply to general game design. Nowadays in these compilations he mainly finds something bad in a game, shouts, and then it cuts to him on his couch losing his shit.

Yeah, now you mention it that's kinda what's been missing from more recent JonTrons.

I do wish Jon would talk about the game design aspect of things a bit more. It was always fascinating hearing his point of view on these things.

to be fair though he does review different games to what he used to. He used to do top 10 lists and review pretty popular games, now he reviews shitty obscure games and weird subgenres
