Jason Statham in Crank fell out of a helicopter, landed on a car, bounced off about 6 meters high and landed on the road and survived :3
Yeah, I saw that one. Good movie. But it is a movie. A MOVIE.

He also got his heart removed and all kinds of shit in the follower-up.
I fell 4 feet, landed on my head and almost died.
Fuck me, I'm so angry right now. I was supposed to get scanned and get this huge, ugly thing around my neck off today. I have been counting down for this for 12 days now. But when we had gotten to the hospital, they had failed to inform us that they had changed it to another hospital. And that it is first in a week and 3 days.
I almost smashed my cell phone completely when I came home today, because I was so fucking angry. My mom will call them tomorrow to ask if I can take it off, because I was actually only supposed to walk around with it for 10 days. Shit.

Wish me luck, please.

That's retarded. I hate miscommunication.
Also, I think what those saying "6m is nothing" need to realize is that he didn't jump 6m and land on his feet, he fell the distance, completely unprepared for the fall, and landed probably somewhere on his shoulders/neck/head.
I know what it feels like to fall (I have jumped off an 8 meter garage roof), and if you land on your feet, the shock goes up your ankles and legs, it almost feels like your bones are going to explode into your thighs.
but people, he uncontrollably fell 6m, he didn't jump
I have learned from experience that if you need to jump off of something high, try to focus on jumping with more forward momentum compared to height, so you can land on your balls of your feet and roll away. I think it saves the injuries, considering if you let gravity concentrate on your feet, somethings gotta give.
land and roll, that's what you have to do
I've jumped from ~8 ft with that method

General rule of thumb is that unless you know what you're doing, never jump off of anything taller than you.
I jumped off a couple of things probably about 8ft and if there's any advice I would give it's that if you don't know how to roll, it's that you're better to land, bend your knees, and then fall onto your side than to just try and stay on your feet.

or in my genius case, go completely stiff and fuck up your knees, then proceed to roll around on the floor in pain

Oh no, now my life is ruined. Really, do you think I care? I have lots of friends in real life to support me, a random vote on Facepunch is not going to piss me off.
[editline]28th September 2011[/editline]
That to the side, I'm going to get scanned tomorrow, and hopefully my neck will be alright again. Thanks to everyone who have supported me! :)
I lol'd hard
you are one lucky fucker!
Good luck in the hospital OP

Thanks. It didn't go as I wanted to, how ever. They said that they wasn't sure of if I was ready to get this off my neck, so to be on the safe side, I have to get scanned AGAIN next week. Fuck.

ask for Percoset or Vicoden or something, I always thought the upside of serious injury was recreational abuse of prescription drugs
You're alive so good for you
Glad your alive OP! Get well soon.

I remember being on Vicoden for a few days after I had my wisdom teeth removed.
I've head a near death experience, my dad was working on a car engine when I was around 7 years old, I was leaning over the engine watching it. He started the engine and the newly replaced spark plug shot out of the engine and scraped passed my forehead.
I'm pretty sure if that thing had hit my head directly, I wouldn't be around to talk about it.
Fuck man I had the same with a gas bb gun. Guess we were standing o.ooooo1cm from

You really had to bring this 2 week old thread up to say that?
You really had to bring this 2 week old thread up to say that?
Oh fuck I didn't realize this is 2 weeks old, I was absently mindedly browsing threads
my bad, on the other hand, hows the brace going?
Longest distance I've fallen is three meters, which wasn't so bad as it wasn't an accident or anything and the surface I hit was grass and shit.
You're made of steel, man.

Haha, it's alright. I'm fine, thank you. ^^
Not life-threatening in the least bit, but good for a laugh. In elementary school there was this "boat" made of tires and wood. I was climbing up the side of it, slipped and fell. Now the night before I had watched this show and this cat fell like 11 stories and survived or some bullshit like that. The reason being that cats have flaps of skin between their legs and body and thus can slow their descent, like a shitty parachute. Well as I was falling it seemed like time froze for a second and I remembered the show, but only the part with the cat spreading it's legs out. So I mimicked it and fell about 6 feet onto the ground and did a belly flop.
In retrospect it actually probably saved me a lot of pain because if I tried to catch myself I could have broken a wrist or something. But still, how the teachers didn't laugh their ass off at a kid just falling off, going spread-eagled screaming, then a loud smack is beyond me.
what's the big deal? a 3 year old fell down 7 meters on to concrete and survived...
If you are going to be a smartass like that, at least post some sources.
Like a boss.
I fell off a ladder once and cracked my rib, only thing that I can relate this to.
Get well soon
