This thread teaches you to hate everything you once loved. But really, if you're not much of a critic, season 5 was alright. Season 6 as well. I thought they were both alright, but I can see where it fell short of being better.
Man, I'm really liking this season. Isaak seems like a cool villain and a rather refreshing change from this serial killer business.

Well, Isaak is smooth as hell. Compared to Trinity's creepy ass spooky shit, that guy is a pleasant change. Or Travis Marshall for that matter.
Well let's look at the trend:
Season 1: Fucked up from childhood, murdered for fun
Season 2: Dexter framing someone
Season 3: Jimmy Smits
Season 4: Trinity killing cuz he's weird and gets nekkid wit girls
Season 5: Kills cuz they're weird and gets nekkid wit girls
Season 6: Kills because religion and deranged psycho
Season 7: It's business
Bucking the trend, finally.

I love him. Dexter has never really had to face an organization. The closest was season 5, but they were fairly single targets. Here he's practically against the Russian mafia.
It is also nice that he doesn't know they are after him yet. He is usually the one hunting them down but we are 4 episodes in and he doesn't even know he is in danger.

The only seasons that weren't all that great was seasons 5 and 6, I don't understand how anyone could say 4 was bad at all. From what I've seen there's 2 sides when it comes to season 4, ones who say it was the beginning of Dexter getting bad, and others who praised it as the best season of Dexter. Season 7 is great so far though.

I think this was one of the funnier episodes of Dexter I have seen in a while.
I love when Dexter sort of breaks character like this and is actually pretty funny.

Here's S5 in a few short sentences. Goes without saying, but, spoilers:
[sp]Rita's dead. Dexter meets Lumen (Julia Styles). Dexter falls for Lumen and shares his dark passenger with her. Together they kill a series of guys who've killed other girls and tried to kill Lumen in the beginning. Once all of these guys are dead, she loses the dark passenger and moves away to never be seen again. And, Dexter is left in the exact same place he was at the beginning of the season.

Don't bring back those memories. That episode was so bad, out of character, broken, oh geezus. Oh lordy don't make me think of it. Don't do it.
The way they handled [sp]Deb finding out[/sp] was entirely different than I thought they would. It seemed out of character for the both of them.
I liked that it heavily messed up the whole "I want to fuck my brother" subplot though, and although still present is at least now isn't as emphasized anymore.

Pretty well so far, definitely not as bad as season 6.
I'm really enjoying things quite a lot.
