Tell me people, those of you who have read the books, are all of this recent seasons (5,6,7 or so) going by the book? Or have the books even gone this far?
[sp]or maybe i should go to the library of google[/sp]
I'm pretty sure the first season is the only to have tried to follow the books.

After the first season they're entirely different. The books are a lot more what the fuck and out there.

The first season was based on the first book, with some pretty significant changes. The second season takes a few cues from the book but after that it's completely different. The third book is just weird.
Yeah, here's a plot synapses of the third book:
At the start of the novel, Dexter, a forensic blood spatter analyst for the Miami Police Department, investigates a double homicide at the University of Miami campus. Two female students are found burned and beheaded. Their heads are replaced by the ceramic heads of bulls. Something about this murder uncharacteristically frightens the Dark Passenger into silence, leaving Dexter to solve the crime on his own. As a series of similar murders takes place, members of a mysterious cult begin stalking Dexter, believing his Dark Passenger to be a threat to them.
Dexter soon begins to question the dark voice that has been with him all his life, as he slowly realizes that his Dark Passenger is a true entity unto itself, possibly an offspring of the ancient god Moloch. While attempting to dispatch a killer who had been stalking him, Dexter becomes frightened and is unable to go through with the deed. He soon realizes that the Dark Passenger had given him an unusual amount of confidence and an almost supernatural awareness of the world around him; now that it is gone, he feels vulnerable for the first time in his life.
tl;dr Dexter turned into a superhero in the books
tl;dr Dexter turned into a superhero in the books
In the THIRD book,
and it sorta goes back to normal afterwards since he realised 3 didnt go down so well.
I remember reading a lot of more weird shit like (book spoilers) [sp]him turning Cody and Astor into murderers, his brother coming back and wanting to join the kids and Dexter and go murdering.[/sp]
The books are just weird. The only thing cool about the books that didn't work in the show was that in the first book for a while you thought that maybe Dexter was the Tamiami Slasher.
Ending of the last episode had me grinning. They made Dexter's new relationship interesting enough, although you can already see it ending badly from miles away. Isaac is a great villain so far, let's hope the rest of his arc is suitable. Don't want another lame ending.
Yes I read the differences between the books and the series, and I have to say the writers have interpreted/reimagined Dexter very nicely for a TV show.
But as of lately it feels glossy, kinda like some CSI, with the certain super-stars of the show and some side guest-characters and what not.

[sp]nurturing their dark passengers and teaching them to kill like he does != 'turning them into murderers'[/sp] and it's not weird. it's awesome.
Uh no it's definitely really fucking weird. While the television show goes in the buddy cop show direction, I'll take that over the much weirder shit that goes on in the books.

Why would [sp]Cody and Astor have "Dark Passengers"[/sp]?
Why would [sp]Cody and Astor have "Dark Passengers"[/sp]?
Paul abusing rita and the kids was way worse in the book compared to the show
Dexter is going to get [sp] himself killed talking to Isaac like that. I mean come on. [/sp]
[sp]It doesn't matter what he says, his mind is already made up. I think it's quite the opposite though, kind of makes him respect him more.[/sp]
You might be right. [Sp] I think Isaac was a little horrified for a moment there [/sp]
lol wtf?
Watching Season 3 Episode 10, somehow Dexter is playing Halo 3 on a PC, on windows xp, with a keyboard only.

TV shows have never understood how video games (or computers in general) work, that's nothing new.

Saul in Homeland was playing media files with Media Player Classic, so I think some shows get it right.
I'm so proud of you rusty. You managed to disagree with something completely irrelevant to the show.

It's well known in the business that there is sort of a 'competition' between set dressers/prop people whatever to try and make the most ridiculous computers/games non realistic stuff as they can for lols.
