One of the most fun things about the series these days is reading Rusty's rants about it.
I agree completely with Rusty. I want Dexter to be a lot like he were in Season 1/2, that's what made the show so good.
I've actually been enjoying Season 7 so far, however the first time I saw Hannah I just knew that she was going to be the next romantic interest in Dexter's life, which made me sad. I hate how they keep trying to introduce new romances that really make no sense. And the fact that they rushed Isaak's death so horribly annoyed me, the circumstances should've been different. I felt as if Dexter and Isaak could've become friends, or at least gotten a deeper understanding of each other. I liked Isaak's character, and the fact that they're shoving in this arson plot at the end of the season is so unlike any other season and just feels rushed.

soo good
dead arm, motherfucker
The apparent cause for Isaaks [sp]early death[/sp] is because he had to go do work on Thor, so here's to hoping they knew that in advance and have a plan to not entirely undo what was so far a pretty great season in the last 3 episodes
I really enjoy Hannah as a character and she has great chemistry with Dexter, you guys are insane and just can't get the Lumen-effect out of your heads.

really? Her chemistry with dexter feels so forced and i feel like everyone is just waiting for hannah to try and poison him so he can kill her. The lumen-effect though, what the fuck are you talking about. I think you mean 'the awful writing effect'.
She has awful chemistry with dexter. But no where near as bad as lumen.
Lumen is the worst character in dexter, if not the worst character of all time.
I think the best Quote to show how dexter feels now, is from episode 3 where he says to Debra "Everything is in my control". Obviously we know it isn't, and it exemplifies how he's been acting this season.

The season was advertised as the one where Dexter gets of the rails. Then shit happened after the first episode.
Things like this make me think more and more that the series is not about the feats of this amazing killer, but a chronicle of the critical mistakes that lead to his downfall. [sp]in season 8[/sp]
It's sad they [sp]killed Isaak so early but I kind of liked it wasn't Dexter who did it. The circumstances could have been thought out better though.[/sp] What's worse is how they introduced this arson killer plot. Feels so forced and unnecessary, if they knew how to write they could just focus on LaGuerta's investigation (even though I hate her).
I felt like that. Thinking about it, with [sp]Isaak gone[/sp], Dexter has to feel the squeeze of a fresh kill, so why not make it in the foreground instead of having it in the back? I think that's what they're going for.
I like how nobody has even bothered with the [sp]corpse of the gun-toting assassin[/sp] yet, despite being in a public area in the middle of the day.

Next episode preciew spoilers [sp]There are pictures of Sheriff-esque officers talking to dexter in the next episode, here's me hoping they dont just drop the body dexter left behind and make it play a role in the last episodes[/sp]

Or [sp]they'll write it so Hannah is the only one to truly accept him, and at the end of season 8, they'll both stop killing for each other and ride off into the sunset on his boat, hand in hand.[/sp]
I think the show will end with Dexter being killed with a monologue about how it feels to die or whatevers as he lays bleeding out.
Even though this last episode was a bit of a let down, I really liked the sniper kill, and I want to see more like that.
are you kidding me that was the worst kill in the history of dexter ever
it didn't even look real
IMO best kill ever was probably Joey's PI.
I feel what they tried to do with the gun range kill was "no one's looking, loud gunshots, he's lying down and wont be found dead until after dexter's long gone", and thats still overlooking how ridiculous it was. Dexter used to stalk his kill for hours, waiting until everything is clear to make them disappear, now he just walks up to people killing them all willy nilly
Or maybe theyre just conveying how he's losing his touch and halfway down the road of no return
The thing is, if he's losing his touch he should be getting sloppier and etc. as he's becoming more "human," shouldn't he? They make it seem like he's still invincible.

Perhap's he's so confident in his abilities, that he doesn't feel like he needs to do the long stalking sessions anymore? He did tell Isaak that he'd rather take his chances than help him.
Still, it's silly.
But he did it for a lot of years before the show started. They even explained early on how he honed his skills when he was still young.

I'm under the assumption that his kills prior to before the show started were on people who posed less of a challenge than the baddies we've seen so far.
Perhaps the fact he's gotten this far, with this many kills, made him confident or cocky?
My thoughts on the shooting range murder.
Even though it is out of district, there would still be an investigation on the murder.
There is usually some sort of sign in sheet or something when entering or leaving. Dexter is known to use a fake name and id for buying the M99 tranquilizer. However iirc, in Leguerta's investigation she found Dexter used his real name for a hotel while stalking a kill. So its a possibility he covered that aspect.
Assuming that Dexter's real name is not connected to the gun club in anyway, there is still security cameras.
But I think its been established that in the Dexter universe, security cameras don't exist when Dexter is hunting for a kill. Like during the University scene last season. Dexter is recklessly creeping around a University and stumbles across a dead body and then he leaves. The next day at the scene of the crime, no one bothers to say "How about we check the security cameras".
I know its just a TV show, but ruining the immersion by having Dexter kill in public is sad to watch. Especially because the writers captured the thrill of the hunt so well earlier on.
Its like hes just invincible now
They did check the cameras in the earlier seasons, at least with season 2. I believe Lundy was combing through camera footage of the harbor/marina his boat was at. There was also one in season 4 (I think he found Trinity on it?)
I think after that though, every security camera manufacturer simultaneously went out of business, and every existing one had been removed.

So, Lundy = The only person who knows about security cameras? Sounds about right.
Last night I dreamt an entire episode of Dexter (in which I was a part of) and it all took place underwater. Like literally, we were all walking on the sea bed. Thought I would share that with you.
I have mixed feelings about this season. There are some things that I just find irritating; Dexter's stupid fingerprint app, and the apparent lack of security cameras ANYWHERE for example.
However, some of the writing has been absolutely spot on. For example, Episode 4 - Run. Where Dex chucks in his blood slides with Speltzer. Amazing performance. Comical, dark, gripping.. It gave me a glimpse of hope that there was still life in the Dexter series.
All of the people that are whining and complaining about how Dexter isn't how it was back in Season 1 can go fuck themselves politely. OBVIOUSLY he isn't going to be the same cold killer, because there is a thing called "character development". If Dexter was exactly the same as he was in the first season (maybe the second too) then this show would have gotten boring way before now. It would have been predictable.. At least now when shit hits the fan, you do not know how Dexter will react and get himself out of it.
And now for my plot prediction:
[sp]I have always had in the back of my mind that Doakes could still be alive. It is incredibly unlikely I know, but let’s not forget that he was in Black Operations (pun not intended). He must have some connections with powerful people. People that can aid in the faking of his death. The burnt corpse that was found had no resemblance to Doakes other than dental records. And let’s face it, that isn’t exactly IMPOSSIBLE to fake.
Everyone is getting mad at the random introduction of the Arson killer. I think that whilst the show is trying to make you think it is that arson analyst, the actual killer is someone else. Someone that means something to the show. I read somewhere that the killer who murdered Dexter’s mother has been released from jail. Also, there is too much obvious build-up between LaGuerta and the BHB case. She will link it to Deb. Absolutely sure of it. And that will be the season ending. Deb being taken away and stripped of her Lieutenant status, and Dex thinking “fuck”. The last episode is called “Surprise Motherfucker”. This could be because Doakes comes back (unlikely) or because Deb is the one that takes the fall for the BHB murders, and that would essentially be a “surprise” for all you Doakes loving motherfuckers. ;)[/sp]
[sp] doakes told a lot of people about dexter, maybe someone from black ops or something is trying to track down dexter too as revenge for killing doakes [/sp]

[sp]This makes more sense than doakes being alive. I don't think he had the time to make a phone call and bring a replacement body in time for the police investigators.
I think LaGuerta is too invested into tracking down Dexter at this point to blame deb. But I did notice that she stopped including deb in her side investigation.
Can't wait to see how good/bad the "surprise motherfucker" episode is.[/sp]
Missing a / to end your spoiler tags yo.

Ninja'd.
I'd rather be entirely surprised by the finale, they have a number of ways they can head from here, [sp]Doakes Black Ops Friend would be an interesting twist though[/sp]
Doakes will remain my favorite
to be honest i would prefer doakes to return than this burn killer guy take over the season
at least it would spice it all up a bit
