So, is this one good or not?
I missed it, and TVclub has it as the lowest rated episode of the season so far.
I loved this episode and thought they took a lot of great ideas and just condensed them a little too much.
As I said, the idea that [sp]Dexter accepts that his dark passenger isn't real[/sp] is really cool and should've been explored in more detail. Accountability is something cool to look at and it ties together all the outside storylines going on.
i just think they keep warping his character without realising just how much and how irreversible it is now

All of the people that are whining and complaining about how Dexter isn't how it was back in Season 1 can go fuck themselves politely. OBVIOUSLY he isn't going to be the same cold killer, because there is a thing called "character development". If Dexter was exactly the same as he was in the first season (maybe the second too) then this show would have gotten boring way before now. It would have been predictable.. At least now when shit hits the fan, you do not know how Dexter will react and get himself out of it.[/quote]
The shows gone on way longer than it should have originally, it would have been better as just like a 3-4 season thing, it just feels like it keeps going with zero effort put into it and they just keep making new episodes just for the sake of it
An odd episode.
I liked it overall, but there were some things I really didn't like. Mostly his [sp]abandoning the notion of a Dark Passenger[/sp].
And Rusty nailed it about warping his character. At the start of the season, he was the [sp]I can't control it, I'm like an addict (though, you could argue that he's always been like this)[/sp] and now he's pretty much [sp]"Hey, I can control this, turns out I actually like it, cool, let's kill"[/sp].

I guess I can agree with this comment because after watching the latest episode I'm really confused on how to feel about it. They are trying to do something but it just doesn't feel right for me. Maybe it will lead somewhere.
[sp]so in ep11 its confirmed that dexter knows about the metro being on to him; i wonder what the 'surprise motherfucker' will be?[/sp]
[sp]I'm gonna kill this bitch's daddy. Bitches loves dead daddies.[/sp]
And I can't be only one that when [sp]Hannah's dad said "There's devil inside you, boy" immediately heard in my mind "College - Real Hero"[/sp]
Totally predicted the [sp]"sink or swim" line. Loved the episode, felt like Season 2 again with all the self-realization and Metro homing in on him.[/sp]
new episode feels like [sp]Issak[/sp] never even existed
is dexter batman
??
[sp]Well that episode was ok. I'm kinda glad they finally did away with the whole "dark passenger" deal, I was getting kind of tired of Dexter being such a gothy cunt about his need to kill (the DARKNESS is inside me >:C ). Finally he accepted the fact that he's just a nutter who likes to kill. [/sp]
Are you fucking kidding?
[sp] Did Dexter just fucking stab a guy in the middle of a public shooting range and leave the body? Oh, its ok they don't have his credit card, cameras, sign up or anything that would link him there [/sp]
[sp]I cringed at the very end of the episode when it turns out Hannah's father called in the tip anyway, so Dexter killed him for nothing. Hannah is going to be pisssssed.[/sp]
it doesn't make sense though
[sp]why would he have called in the tip anyway if he plans to extort them? this way he guarantees only getting one payment, and even then hannah being able to testify once she gets caught that the dad got paid off (and still didn't keep his word) so she can drag him down with her. why would he do that???? it makes no sense, surely he'd want to keep getting money off them????[/sp]

[sp]The writers wanted to have Dexter kill him and still have Deb chase a lead on Hannah[/sp]
[sp]In other words they couldn't write themselves out of a plot hole they created to push the things along. I don't get the point though, Dexter's already about to get found out by Laguerta.[/sp]
[sp]Something tells me Dexter might actually end up getting caught at the end of this season, and the next season is what will be the possible end for him. Who knows though. I cringed at the end of it because things are not looking good for Dexter at all now.[/sp]
[sp]Wasn't that witness the only one who could put Hannah in jail? He wouldn't have much else to extort out of her, so I guess the writers just wanted to make him seem like a gigantic assfuck[/sp]
he's gonna lead laguerta into a shack and frame her as the bay harbour butcher.

Last episode was alright.
[sp]The "The dark passenger doesn't really exist, you're responsible for your own actions" symbolism was way too obvious.
For example, when Dexter was giving the monologue to the arsonist killer. Dexter freezes before delivering the killing blow and pretty much says "He is just like me! He is blaming someone who doesn't exist for his actions! Does this mean the dark passenger doesn't exist???"
I thought Dexter was being ironic when he was telling the arsonist to take responsibility for his actions, and I also thought Dexter already knew the dark passenger didn't exist.
But I guess not.

Reminded me of the resolutions from House M.D., always realizing the illness from some unrelated conversation.
It might just be me, but i get the feeling that they're building up plot points and getting rid of them too fast, [sp]the arsonist lasted 3-4 episode (Off the top of my head), before he was dealt with, Hannah's dad; gone in one episode, and I'm getting the sense that LaGuarta (sorry for the poor spelling) is catching onto dexter too fast, if she was so fast at putting the pieces together before, why is she only catching on now ?[/sp] I don't necessarily find it to be a gripe though, just my input, i just get the sense that this season doesn't really know what it's trying to be, so it's going through lots of different plots really fast, though of course im still finding this season to be relatively enjoyable to watch, no doubt about that.
I think they were kind of floundering because (as mentioned earlier in the thread) Isaak's actor was pressed for time due to another movie he was doing.
The first season of dexter had multiple smaller "plot points" lasting 1-4 episodes and the main villain was only really around for the last couple of episodes.

the main villain wasn't SEEN until late in the season
he was still doing a lot of stuff since the very first episode
You could argue that LaGuerta is this season's main plot and antagonist, with Isaak, Hannah and Deb only being subplots.
[sp]I mean... it's been slowly building up from only being a small issue, it's a threat still unknown to Dexter, and the resolution to this conflict is likely to have a very large impact on the show.[/sp]

We can only hope the series finale can live up to the hype.
Watch this season finale be a repeat of season five when he was almost caught. Whatever LaGuerta finds will somehow be brushed under the rug and we'll never see it brought up again.
