Just finishing season 3 tonight... What season was it that everyone seems to loathe? 5 right? So far these first 3 seasons have been fantastic.

First 4 were great, 5th and 6th were bad and in 7th it got better...
Just starting season 6 now. Season 5 was bad? I thought it was pretty good! In fact, season 4 wound up being a major letdown for me entirely because of how it ended... I got the feeling some massive confrontation was coming and it was going to be all 'epic' or whatever, but then it just kinda fizzled out. Season 5 wasn't so bad - I really like Johnny Lee Miller and I think he played a fantastic bad guy, plus the side story with Robocop and Quinn was actually really cool (I also happen to fucking LOVE Peter Weller).
Season 6 I've seen a few scattered bits of on TV - I clearly remember Adama, and I'm curious to see how the show feels with his character. Maybe everything comes across better as I've been watching it in a continuous manner - no weekly breaks or huge gaps between seasons - maybe it flows better this way?
Also, any ideas when season 7 will be out on Blu Ray? I'd hate to watch 6 seasons of blissfull quality viewing then have to watch crappy HDTV for season 7, if I can avoid it!
Im on Episode 3 of Season 7. What a fucking ride this has been.
I'll catch you soon enough...
But yes, the opening ep of season 6 was a total downer. Could have just been any one random ep from somewhere in a middle of a season, who would know. I really, really, really hate it when TV shows do that whole "1 year later" shit or whatever to conveniently skip plot points that they can't be bothered to go into detail with.
At least this one was a bit more subtle about it. If you're going to jump ahead in time, do it real suave - like BSG did (uh, the season 2 finale, not the series finale bullshit).
Christ what is with season 6's chronic overuse of CGI?! Every single scene... CGI. Dexter takes a drive to Nebraska? Why bother filming a real car with your helicopter footage - use a CGI one!!
It's super distracting.
After seeing some CGI videos showing off what they can do, it's almost like everything is cgi'd in these days.
Yeah but in Dexter the CGI was fucking awful (at least in season 6 it was, otherwise it blends nicely in other seasons). It was just so strange that they only went hardcore on the cheapy CGI for that one season - I'm sure there's a story behind it.
Anyway, almost finished with season 7. As I near the end, I'm starting to remember a lot because I did catch the final episode of season 7 on TV a while back, not realising it was the season finale of the latest season. So it's a bit of a shame but at least there's a lot of gaps to fill in between.
Also, in my opinion the best little moment in the whole show had to be when Dexter went AWOL after Rita's death and killed that guy in the little store / shack toilets. The way he broke down right afterwards was just brilliant. Somehow Michael Hall managed to pull off the reaction and emotion in a way that seemed remarkably realistic to how I think Dexter would actually react - he's not used to showing emotion or having those feelings, so he just kinda curls up and makes that unnerving scream, you know? Anyway, that scene was brilliant in my opinion.
But the show has had plenty of great moments. Truth be told, it doesn't feel like it's been 7 seasons. Maybe it's because they're only 12 eps each? To me, season 7 feels more like it could easily be the 3rd or 4th season in any other show, with the way the plot is going. Could also be because I've watched it in one stretch. But I would personally be glad to see the show go on longer - it can easily do it.
I watched all 7 seasons in two/three weeks time. Now I have to wait like everyone else :(
My prognosis on the upcomming season (contains spoilers S01-S07):
[sp]The relationship between Dexter and Debra will be the main focus, their relation will change to a relationship similar to Dexter-Lumen in season 5. (Sometimes killing together, trying to keep doing their own things and maybe bits of 'love'?)
The Miami Metro Police Department will draw their attention to Dexter, since LaGuerta was murdered after Dexter was arrested by her. (Not quite sure about that part, since Dexter made it look like a shooting)
Tom Matthews might start his own investigation (continues with LaGuerta's work?) or will question Dexter as an old friend of Harry Morgan (Maybe Matthews knew Dexter's dark secret since Harry Morgan told him? Matthews could be looking after Dexter).[/sp]
Can't wait for season 8! :)

Please no [sp]don't make Deb and Dexter kill together, that would be so fucking lame.[/sp]

[sp]No, that's not what I meant. Debra won't become a serial killer, but she will get more involved by helping Dexter cover-up. Mainly to keep Dexter out of jail.[/sp]
Should I start watching this from the beginning? Or can I pick up whats going on if I just see an episode on TV?
