About the end of season 4.. [sp]To be honest, I was glad that Rita died. I liked her and everything, but I felt like the show was focusing on the family aspect too much instead of Dexter and his dark passenger. I think now it will be just Dexter and his son, and Rita's kids will head off with their grandparents that took them to the amusement park.[/sp]
Somebody didn't read the books.
Somebody didn't read the books.
I haven't either. I sorta want to read them and then I sorta don't want to ruin upcoming seasons. I love having no idea what's going to happen and watching it on TV rather than having read the books prior. FYI guys, no need to spoiler tag stuff through the thread. I think this section will be best kept with only spoiler tags in the OP, past the little introduction for people interested in watching a show/film. Anyone not caught up with a show has been advised to not read through entire threads.
one of my favourite shows ever
[sp]Rita was a MILF and I miss her.[/sp]
by far my favorite show. just finished the 4th season, fucking incredible. [editline]06:31PM[/editline]
I liked the show but as soon as it turned into another "I have to work out who and what I am and my childhood" thing I stopped watching. I like the episodes where he catches other killers but the ones about him are pretty boring in my opinion. I undrstand that the series needs to be driven by something but it's just not touching me.
if you didn't watch season 4 you're missing out.

started watching it 2 weekends ago and i'm half way through the second season now (netflix streaming FTW!) I love this show!

It's the same general plot but it feels like a lot of the characters are completely different(LaGuerta and Dexter seem very different in the book), and the ending is way different than the ending of the first season. The book also has a lot more humor, some parts I even laughed out loud at.
Best. Show. Ever. Love it so much.
I tried to get into this show because I was hearing so many good things about it, but I don't like the main actor and I don't really like the idea of the show. It feels too serious for me, too. The way it presents itself sounds like something I'd love, but I don't. It seems like my type of show, but it just isn't.

Hall. He's an amazing actor.

Read all four, and only the first season holds any similarities to the books.
I just finished watching season 4. Finished it in 2 days. Damn it cliffhangers.
How can you not like Michael C. Hall. He's an amazing actor.
seriously unfortunately, though, most people recognize him for dexter instead for six feet under, which he was definitely better in. Regardless, he's amazing in both shows
I loved season 1, season 2 was meh, I've yet need to see season 3.

NOW
Best TV Show out there. I've been a fan of the books for years, and got around to watching the series about 9 months ago. Been hooked. I spent all day today watching the 4th season. Best time I've ever had while sick in bed. [sp] The finale pissed me off, along with the fact that the children have not been shown to be murderous like Dexter. I think that with seeing Harrison "born in blood" like Dexter, it implies that he will be the one to become the Sociopathic Killer later on; maybe the next season could start out with a "5 Years Later" thing... I hope not. They really should start the next season off with the plot [or to be more precise, killer] of the Third Book, a creepy cult killer. It would get a lot better IMO. Still loving the show of course. :D [/sp]
1 was still the best. It was still a little more artsy and had better, less ordinary cinematography. A good example of this is when we're first introduced to Rita, and the camera has a very soft but detailed lens and a depth of field, while it shows a closeup of her face in slow motion. This kinda stuff was noticeably absent from every following season. [editline]03:19PM[/editline] Ah fuck I was gonna post a picture as an example but I've lent my Season 1 blu-ray to a friend

I wish they would have done more of that beyond Season 1.
Oh god, Season 3 Episode 7 made [sp]me tear up at the end. Words can't describe how epic that was.[/sp]
I fucking LOVE Dexter. Greatest show ever.
Fuckin Rita. :( [editline]09:59AM[/editline] Benji we have the same taste in shows don't we (Heroes, Dexter, I think you watch Fringe too or maybe that was wind8ws I can't remember.)
I hope they start season five off right where four left off. I want to see the other characters reactions and stuff.
just finished watching season 4, the ending blew my mind, anyone know when season 5 is coming out?
just finished watching season 4, the ending blew my mind, anyone know when season 5 is coming out?
September apparently.
I hope they start season five off right where four left off. I want to see the other characters reactions and stuff.
It's probably going to be 10-11 years in the future.
I doubt it'd be that far of a jump because of how they'd have to physically age every one of the characters. Not to mention get new actors for Astor and Cody, which I personally wouldn't care for. Not to mention it would skip all the good bits of how dexter is left to raise three kids as a single father, yet still needs to make time to serve his Dark Passenger. There's just too much to do to skip over 11 years.
The ending made me very, very sad :( Brilliant show though.
