I don't think those slow episodes this season were bad. Plot development/setup is somewhat necessary. It's all coming together in the end now, can't wait to see how this season ends.

Honestly, I have to agree that Lumen is kind of a strange character only good for introducing strange story twists, but Jordan Chase is awesome, I fucking loved it when Dexter and Chase talked in the FBI office.
it's a shame because i was really starting to get used to lumen and like her
suddenly that crappy ending happens and now she's an unbelievable character

Please watch the season again and look out for the little things that lead right up to it, I mean, anyone who didn't see it coming from about the 6th episode pays little attention to what is going on in the show as they're too busy wetting their pants over a bad character. As benji said before you can see when she comes in the door that she feels safe.

It was hard to live up to how awesome season 4 was with Trinity, but I'm struggling to find motivation to catch up with this season.

It's a good season but they derailed too much with her. It's much better than alot of programmes, but it's the worst season of Dexter.
I don't even know how she got the job, she's not exactly famous or in a lot of things over here.

What's wrong with you guys? Dexter getting caught would be devastating to everyone. I think it's great as is. Yeah there are some stupid female characters, but shit I love the series to death.

so the writers are saying if you kill the person who did something bad to you all your wounds are magically healed, yet dexter kills people all the time but is never rid of his dark passenger

Did I say her problems are magically healed and gone away? And you're not everyone else in the world. Everyone is different, I dunno what's so hard to grasp about that.
I feel like most of the people in this thread are just looking for reasons to bitch and complain.
You people complaining about the sex being out of character are missing the point of the story. Killing the men that tortured Lumen is bringing her comfort. It's not going to "cure" her; the line from Deb about the women being better off dead after what happened to them wasn't thrown in randomly. It's the show's way of saying Lumen is irrevocably damaged. But the deaths are helping her.
Through helping Lumen, Dexter is working past Rita's death. They're both essentially making each others' lives better and they recognize the bond they share. I don't disagree that it might have been better to have it happen later, like after Jordan Chase is dead, but if they decided to kill Lumen off before then, it needed to happen now. Obviously I'm only making an assumption that Lumen dies, based on the fact that everyone who finds out about Dexter ends up dead.
