There's not much they can do with a season 6 in the first place.
It's either Deb finds out, or Dexter goes to jail or commits suicide.
not many other options left, so hopefully they find a good one to end it on so that it doesn't drag on for much longer than it should.
Why should Dexter end? There are still books coming out. I know the show doesn't follow them but I mean take that as an example for how much more that can be done with this show. I see this show having several more seasons.

Finished season 2 yesterday (finally) it had me way more on the edge of my seat than season 1 did. Sadly I resume work tomorrow so wont have nearly enough time to plow into season 3 :(

Anyone feel that the latest season was a bit lack-luster? I loved the 1st and second, the whole brother scenario was great, the fourth was good aswell (the one with John Lithgow if I'm wrong about the season). But the last one was quite boring for me, nothing exciting happened and even the finale left me feeling bored.

Episodes 8-11 weren't bad.
Honestly, I'm starting to wonder if you guys with nothing but hate for the season even watched it. Yes, there were plot holes (mainly in the beginning of the season), and yes the finale sucked, but there were still good episodes and I'm willing to bet if you go back a few pages to when these episodes aired, we'll find posts of all you guys saying how this season is starting to get good.
"starting to get good" but really, it never did. it built up our anticipation only to shatter it and never get anywhere half decent. every 'good' episode left you with a feeling of 'that was pretty good, the next one must be fantastic', and each time it was the same thing. it was just a constant build up every episode. none of them stand on their own, and once it's reached a (terrible) conclusion, it as a series just all falls apart. no matter which episodes in the middle showed promise, that's all they did. showed promise. a promise that never delivered.

I've watched dexter since the first ep premiered. While watching season 3, not once did I think "wow this show has gone to shit" the writing was still decent. I didn't really pay attention to how 'bad' it was, I thought miguel was kinda meh but I still enjoyed it. Season 5 made me cringe, especially the finale.

season 3 held up as a season, it was just predictable and boring but still decent. season 5 however doesn't hold up all really which makes the difference
