I started watching this show last month and just finished it tonight, it is awesome. The earlier seasons were better but I enjoyed the main storyline of every season. I wish they hadn't killed off Doakes, that man was badass. I was sad when Rita died but Trinity is the best villain so far. I really don't like Lumen or Julia Stiles. The Quinn/Liddy story was disappointing. I hate how Dexter always gets into some deep shit but always finds away out, but I guess the show would end if he didn't.

The only way out of it, is him to die. To protect his sister and son.

Just finished watching season 5... I am feeling mixed, probably more disappointed than anything else. I didn't find Lumen to be as likeable as Rita like the show (and book?) hoped (maybe it was Julia Stiles.. I can't put my finger on it). The ending was pretty rude, it would be great to explore the relationship between Dexter (the murderer and brother) with Debra, with Quinn added into the mix. This did feel a bit familiar after Miguel and I thought Dexter would be a bit more careful. I understand that Lumen was positioned to be Dexter's 'salvation' or coping process after Rita's death, I feel as if this relationship should have been highlighted more than Lumen as Dexter's kindred spirit. I don't understand, are we meant to like LaGuerta now? She still shit over Debra's career without correcting the situation, I get that she did help Debra when it was needed... But I still won't forgive her. Apparently a new showrunner is on for Season 6 and I'm hoping that it will be a more honest and sincere season, with a more fulfilling ending than Season 5's. Dexter's relationship with his children whilst trying to accommodate the Dark Passenger will no doubt come into play in the sixth season, but this has sort of been covered before hasn't it? So a new villain is going to come about or someone will find out about his secret (and not be killed off this time... please?), maybe Astor or Cody will see the Dark Passenger? That's all the speculation I can offer from this point. Also... Really sucks how we couldn't see Rita meet Dexter and Dexter, and where that relationship would go. Anyway, what do you guys think?

I really would like to see the next season follow one of the books, like Dexter by Design or Dexter is Delicious, both have really nice plots (especially Dexter by Design), but they'd need a bit of editing, mainly because Rita is still alive in the books

They can't really go with the books unless they do it very loosely. Dexter is a show that needs suspense to be good and there is no suspense if you've read the book and know what happens.

I liked Season 3 too, Miguel was awesome. Season 5 was the weakest I think, mainly because of Lumen.

I liked season 3 as well, I'm not really enjoying 4 that much though.

Season 4 really picks up towards the end. I did find myself skipping through many scenes though.

Watching season 5, episode 8 now (Australian tv, recorded it from like yesterday or something) but a friend watched them online ahead and told me a few small things that happen. I'm guessing they end up getting all the people who hurt lumen by the end of the series in typical dexter fashion? :3 Also I'm addicted to the end credits music now

There probably won't be anything for a while. iirc, they don't even start working on the next season till the middle of the year.

Just finished Season 4, and I still didn't really like it. There were multiple surprising parts that were nice, but then the rest of it seemed so repetitive. Also, I was happy when [sp]Rita died.[/sp] It was no "Oh my gosh no way" thing for me, it was just a "Alright, I'm fine with this" thing.
