i dont know how people could do that. (when i watched it i wasnt checking the forum) but every episode i couldnt believe how bad it was. Almost every episode left me wondering how did the people who wrote the first 4 make this piece of crap.
also, after re watching season 4 i realized that the last 2 episodes killed the season for me. imo they were awful mainly because Dexter acted completely un-dexter-like.
I stopped at season 4 forever ago and didn't move on to 5 because everyone said it sucked. Should i watch it anyways just to see the way they went with the series after that?

At the time is was good TV, it just has absolutely no value to the story of dexter as a whole.

I've completely rewrote OP of the thread with more info in general and updated the season info.
Seems to be there is going to be a religious play in this Season, but thankfully it looks like Dexter is against it.
I tried to start season 5 recently. I don't know if i'm biased because of all the flak I've heard about season 5... but it just seemed absolutely horrible. Everything was off about it. I felt like everything was too forced, especially the emotions of every single character. It didn't feel as if the kid's had actually lost a mom for example, it just sort of felt like they lost a really cool aunt or something.
I dunno. the whole season is just... off.
