too much religious shit. i can already tell the whole season's gonna be about religion
That's the point.
im going to boycott the damn series if it really does turn out the religious nut's mentor is in his head just like every damn person suspects he is
The kid is actually in the mentors head. M. Night Shyamalan
New twist to the story, Dexter discovers some writers are having a psychic episode and make a tv show based on Dexters life without them actually knowing its Dexter, but to keep safe he butchers them all.
Great episode apart from the hammy religious overtones. Brother Sam seems cool though.
Episode 2 was so far from great. It was filled to the brim with hammy side character drama that was so poorly written it's painful
I saw the last couple minutes of Dexter last night before watching Homeland. I've never watched Dexter before, but I always saw it about. Just by the last twenty minutes of the episode yesterday I thought it was pretty good. What I am wondering though, is it worth jumping into the series now or have I missed too much and better off starting further back?

And sorry, I actually enjoy Deb's interactions with Quinn. Even though they've turned Quinn into the woman of that relationship. Also:

Please, I have higher standards for shows as well. Doesn't mean I have to deny my appreciation for a fine ass.
Please, I have higher standards for shows as well. Lila was the exception, it showed her character, but this is just eye candy to distract from what has become a rather standard soap opera.
I think they just want to give Masuka a slightly bigger role on the show so they're going to give him a counterpart. Though, I think he works just fine as comic relief in the background. And really, the show has always been a bit of a soap opera. But, I keep watching it just because it can be extremely fun and entertaining. It's on par with Weeds these days for me.
Please, I have higher standards for shows as well. Doesn't mean I have to deny my appreciation for a fine ass.
When this stuff becomes actual gags, you know the show has turned to shit Dexter has gone from the best show on television to a low-brow soap opera.
When this stuff becomes actual gags, you know the show has turned to shit Dexter has gone from the best show on television to a low-brow soap opera.
the show used to be all about Dexter and now its like they are trying to make everyone in the background important in anyway possible. From the under the table deals with Laguerta leading to drama with Batista, its just getting in the way when i really dont give a fuck about that annoying bitch. The show is called Dexter ffs. [editline]11th October 2011[/editline]
Meh. Dexter himself has a good plot, but I couldn't care less about Deb and Quinn :v:
this. so fucking much. Quin is a piece of cardboard to me, completely uninteresting so i dont give a shit what happens to him.
They should just let Dexter get caught at the end of this season and give us a rad last prison season.
He would get the death penalty SO hard if they somehow could connect even a few bodybags to Dexter.
He would get the death penalty SO hard if they somehow could connect a few bodybags to Dexter.
Sorry, I am so used to that being abolished that it did not even occur to me.
Sorry, I am so used to that being abolished that it did not even occur to me.
Yeah well my country doesn't have death penalty either but in the series Dexter has mentioned the death penalty SO many times :v: "Hmm.. If I don't get to that security footage, next thing i'm gonna have to choose between the lethal injection and the electric chair."

V:v:V [editline]wda[/editline] And I was also disappointed that they did not show how Julio was caught.
Yeah well... I kinda forgot about that too. V:v:V
Right.. Indeed about the Julio. Felt like the writers just wanted to give a fast body for viewers. That is bad writing to me.
im going to boycott the damn series if it really does turn out the religious nut's mentor is in his head just like every damn person suspects he is
Haha yeah just like you boycotted the series after every episode in the last season.
Haha yeah just like you boycotted the series after every episode in the last season.
lol snap
I just started this show today. Watched the first 2 episodes. It worries me how much I related to Dexter, though I'm not completely emotionless and bloodthirsty. I do love the three murder scenes I've seen so far. [editline]12th October 2011[/editline]
When this stuff becomes actual gags, you know the show has turned to shit Dexter has gone from the best show on television to a low-brow soap opera.
This post concerns me, I hate to see good shows go downhill. Can someone tell me when this show was in it's prime, and when it starts to go downhill?
It's only had one horrible season(5) and one meh season(3). Everything else is pretty damn good apart from some subplots.
I can say now from what I've seen so far, I've yet to feel any connections to the main characters. With Dexter being so emotionless it's hard even to connect with him. The first two episodes seemed to drag along a little and the best scenes in each were the murders in my opinion. You can give me all the backstory and dialogue you want, just let me get to know the characters a little better first. His stepsister annoys me, I don't like when women swear all the time like her for no reason at all.
Someone should see how the ratio of Dexter screen time vs. side character screen time changes between seasons
So should I read these books before/after I watch the show. Or just ignore them completely?
So should I read these books before/after I watch the show. Or just ignore them completely?
I've read the first two, they're ok. The first book is very similar to the first season but after that they become completely different. In some cases the books are better, such as [sp]killing off Laguerta[/sp] and Dexter seems even darker, but in other cases they seem sloppy (the ending of the first book is a complete clusterfuck compared to the nice, logical ending to Season 1) Just kinda depends on personal preference.
But I'm not really missing anything important by going without? [editline]12th October 2011[/editline] I love Dexter's narrations and the flashbacks with him and his father.
Yeah they don't really have any references between the two
Even though they've turned Quinn into the woman of that relationship.
that's because quinn is the armpit of the world he's such a bland and fucking uninteresting character, i wish he'd go with laguerta and die waste of screen time angel's sistezZzZzZz same story.
Haha yeah just like you boycotted the series after every episode in the last season.
im not really going to boycott it it's a joke, boycotts are stupid
Damn I just realised the actor who played Rita (forgot her name, I think Julie Benz? :v:) Has been in quite a few other shows and such I watch. She was in SAW 5, an episode of Buffy, Supernatural and such. ...it's weird rewatching all this stuff, every time I'm like "It's Rit- oh wait"
