ummm, it's safe to say dexter is batshit insane. like if you don't already know this you obviously can't sense his obvious (and quite deeply) insane sensual tone when he's conversing with his victims while they're on the table. or the fact that he sat in a pool of his mother's blood for hours on end crying. or that he needs to kill people almost like a drug addict needs to shoot up whatever they're hooked on. he really gets off on killing, that's painfully obvious. if you really need a comparison and have watched the new battlestar galactica: gaius baltar's visions of number six. there have even been conflicts in his mind if he's really there or not, or something to that degree if i recall correctly. if not there have been times where it's been hinted that he's a ghost over dexter's shoulder. i don't feel like i'm hitting the nail on the head quite right. i haven't watched dexter in a while.
In the middle of Season 2 Episode 6, why Lila why?
I'm still confused if GHOST DAD is supposed to be a conversation going on in Dexter's head being visualized for the viewer, or if it's Dexter imagining what Harry would say and do if he was still alive and there with him, or if Dexter has actually gone batshit insane and is really hallucinating his GHOST DAD giving him advice and telling him how to do things.
Or since the show has gone down this route already, it's AN ACTUAL GHOST.
dexter was super sociopathic and psychotic in season 1. which is another reason i like that season the best.
yeah dexter is becoming more and more of an average joe - who kills people. the fact he kills people is the only reason he's crazy, because when he's not killing people he is now perfectly sane for some reason, all the time.

Harry even says so in, I believe, season 3. That's he's just in Dexter's head. In the books, you have Dexter, Full Moon Dexter, and Dark Passenger. The books are primarily written in first person and in inner monologue; the latter has trouble being translated into film/T.V. very well. If they kept that, then almost 90% of the show would be Dexter talking to himself, moreso than now. It's a cop-out, but I'm okay with it. James Remar is cool.
I think it's because Dexter is a character that is hard to digest at first (for the majority of the audience who watch it when it airs on tv, not online). The idea of having a Dark Defender serving vigilante justice out to those who truly deserve it makes it justifiable for the average joe to be rooting for this guy. But as time goes on, they don't want to see a psychopath trying to fit in to society, they want to see him progress to a human with real emotions for his children, sister, wife etc that we have all grown to love as well through sub plots and character development. And while still getting rid of the scum of the earth, progressing and fighting his dark passenger. Moving forward, you know? For a happy ending for the character/s everyone has grown to love.

Now hes just a regular guy with the urge to kill every now and then. Hell even in this season when he went to the high school reunion he acted normal enough that people found him popular. It was the little bit of insanity that really made him Dexter, but now i just dont see it all that much. Its that small thing that throws if off that really makes it appealing to me, but i totally understand that.
Grr get back with Rita Dexter.(episode 2x07) [editline]29th October 2011[/editline] Ugh Lila annoys me.
Grr get back with Rita Dexter.(episode 2x07) [editline]29th October 2011[/editline] Ugh Lila annoys me.
I liked the part where she showed her tits.

[sp]When things were going well with Rita he seemed like he was slowly progressing more towards feeling normal human emotions. Plus he's got a son now, and that's probably one of the things that keeps his dark passenger in check.[/sp]
Just finished 2x08. [sp]Finally Dexter is done with Lila. I hope she gets herself a meeting with the bay harbor butcher.[/sp]
When is the episode gonna start in the US?
When is the episode gonna start in the US?
Just ended.
ITT: People just looking for a super sociopathic and psychotic serial killer rather than progression of a serial killer's life and his outlook [in general].
Man o man, if there are still haters on this season they need to get themselves checked.
good it looks like [sp] Gellar is real [/sp] lets see how this goes. nevermind, fuck i just dont know.
good it looks like [sp] Gellar is real [/sp] lets see how this goes. nevermind, fuck i just dont know.
Walking Dead and Dexter spoilers: [sp] The subject wasn't whether or not Gellar is real, it was whether he's still alive, or just in Travis' head for the killings. Also, if Brother Sam dies (the same fucking month that Otis dies in The Walking Dead), I give up on T.V.[/sp] Too depressing of a Sunday. Also: [sp] I bet Gellar gets nabbed by Dexter within the next few episodes, and Travis starts "hearing God". [/sp]

The book that Batista found might have been read but the kid doing his bidding. The book only contained all of the crazy shit that Gellar believed in and he absorbed that as a personality of some sort. (its looking like some kind of alternate personality since he described Gellar as being stronger than he was, etc.) But then again, he does like brunettes like Gellar did which is why i assumed they are in the same head. Im just not sure about this theory though, so im just going to have to wait until next week to see how this all turns out. [/sp]
These two guys in the new season remind me of Harold Camping
Heh, apparently the newest Simpsons has a Dexter parody where Flanders is Dexter. [editline]31st October 2011[/editline] I like how it hits the nail on the head with Dexter most likely becoming a religious nutjob towards the end
Quick question. [sp]Is there a reason why his kid doesn't talk? I feel like the kid has some sort of brain damage or something.[/sp]
I guess I'll talk in spoilers now for maybe 1 or two days until most people have seen the latest episode :v: So regarding the idea that the old guy with the Doomsday killer is just imagination,[sp]I'm still not sure what to think. At first when I watched this episode I really did get the feeling that he probably was just this guy's version of GHOST DAD, he is never shown physically helping out with the victims (aside from the time he was shown standing next to an already tied up woman), nobody aside from the Doomsday killer is shown actually talking to him, and there has not been a single person who has ever asked who the guy he's hanging out with is or even looked his way. This together with that I think I saw in one scene there was blood running down his face, and in the next scene it was gone... made me think he might be dead (although I'm not sure if I perhaps imagined the blood in that scene, since it happened so quickly). Also... the fact that he has been missing for 3 years doesn't have to mean that he is alive with the Doomsday killer, perhaps the reason he is disappeared is because the Doomsday killer actually killed him, and suppressed this memory just like Dexter suppress that Harry killed himself because he couldn't stand to see what Dexter had become. This guy in his current state reminds me a lot of the Tooth Fairy from Red Dragon, a killer that has a good side to him... but that has this sort of deep schizophrenia where he feels that "the great red dragon" is forcing him to kill his victims. Basically, I think that the old guy is dead and now an imaginary mentor just like Dexter's GHOST DAD, but unlike Dexter the Doomsday killer doesn't know that his GHOST DAD isn't real.[/sp] So here's the kicker,[sp]if this theory is actually correct... why the FUCK would he have to call his GHOST DAD on his cellphone at the end of this episode? This is the single most vital clue for me that he might not be imaginary... because every other time we've seen the Doomsday killer talk to the old guy, the old guy have been there to talk to him in person just like Harry appears anywhere for Dexter. Unless he's just imagining someone picking up the phone on the other side (which I feel is pushing it), GHOST DAD was just proved to have a physical form.[/sp]
Aww [sp]I liked Brother Sam, why did he have to die? :([/sp]
Has anybody else noticed that Dexter's job has required more than blood splatter analysis this season? For example, he was looking at the angel wings for DNA and stuff, he didn't do that before. Did he get promoted or something?
Quick question. [sp]Is there a reason why his kid doesn't talk?
Aww [sp]I liked Brother Sam, why did he have to die? :([/sp]
[sp]It's not definitive that he's dead.[/sp]
[sp]It's not definitive that he's dead.[/sp]
[sp] Yeah, the preview showed him hospitalized[/sp]
inb4 it turns out religious nutjob watched too much Fight Club [editline]1st November 2011[/editline] Also Dexter, a "polyvinyl acetate polymer"? :v:

Polyvinyl acetate: type of synthetic polymer (being a specific type of 'plastic')

It has to be physical because he has never called him up ever before, and to do something like that would be too unusual for being this far into the season. If it is, then its just bad writing and failing to give more subtle hints as to his existence. To jump in and use a physical object as means of showing his alternate personality is too drastic and would come across as incredibly confusing, like it is right now. If he turns out to be imaginary and the phone is how he changes from personality to personality then thats just plain dumb and wasnt properly/smoothly brought in and exposed to the audience. But, hopefully next episode will solve all of these confusing questions. [/sp]
