Dexter is a fucking retard now. His confession to some old priest, not killing Jonah, and ignoring Debra - the hell is that. Where is our sweet manipulator without compunction?
I'm seriously considering stopping watching Dexter. The monologues start to sound like bad fanfic. Dexter is sometimes completely careless so it's funny when he mentions the code. Like in the latest episode. [sp]He arrived at the church with a car then entered through the main door. No way Gellar's going to expect him.[/sp] And I got to agree with Rusty there, Dexter was very good at making excuses. Now he just counts on looking very intense. What I slightly like is the writers seem to give a bit more space to Debra, which is ironically destroyed by Dexter's lack of interest in opening to her.
Everytime I saw Batista's sister I kept wonder how she looked familiar. I don't know the actresses name so I couldn't look it up. Then it hit me, she looks exactly like my Spanish teacher from 11th grade. Now it's clawing away at my soul, oh god. PS: Wow Quinn just quoted Britney Spears at the strip club, and he didn't even get all the lyrics right.
by Dexter's lack of interest in opening to her.
It's not lack of interest, it's lack of empathy.. he's a psycho fuck. Like when Brother Sam who's considered Dexter's friend died, Dexter A) said it "Definitely sucks" and B) Killed nick. Anyway this latest season is fucking great. Hell, all of the seasons are good, except barrel girls + miguel prado seasons maybe not my favorites, but anyway.
I hate it when writers are too dumb to portray the intelligence of a character. Seriously, it's not like they have to be as smart, they can tell the future and take plenty of time making split second decisions.
I remember when a whole episode was about careful planning and developing a smart tactic to catch a victim and everything climaxed when it actually happened. Now it's random murders, he's acting like the generic O.J. Simpson killing out of boring base motives. Fuck the writers, all of the new ones.
i'm done watching this show, i really don't want to but i don't want the rest of these episodes ruining my opinion of the whole show. i really loved dexter.
after this season im done. This episode just shows how shit the writers are and its disgusting how they say they are trying to make 2 more seasons.
Inb4, [sp]Geller is the imagination of Travis kinda like how Dexters bro stabbed that farmer guy and then you saw that it was actually Dexter stabbing him, Geller is in newspapers and just walks over to Tylers house like that?, tylers also the only one that has seen him yet[/sp]

Decent episode except for Dexter being a total fuckstick to his sister.
Do you have an article or something that explains it, just so I can understand? I looked up later seasons and the episode to episode directors/screenplay writers, a lot of them were working on earlier seasons. Im just wonderinng overall how different the "new writers" are from the old ones. [editline]20th November 2011[/editline] Just watched the Season 5 premiere. I really couldn't tell a difference in the writing, no matter how hard I tried. Man this is the first time in a long time a TV show has made me cry.
the only way I can see season 5 as making someone able to cry is on how bad it is
About Gellar, [sp]I hope he is alive, but I won't be surprised if he turns out to be in Travis' head. The writers make it very clear Travis was the only one so far who saw him. Even when they were at the market, he ordered Travis to buy the fabric. People might call the police, but I bet they just saw someone similar. If the writers make him a ghost dad and be "you didn't expect that, did you" they'll just seal my opinion on them.[/sp] I was thinking about the previous seasons. First season, big serial killer, who turns out to be Dexter's brother, great writing, the season that made the show a hit. Second one tried something new, investigation that was supposed to catch Dexter, an attempt to find human feelings in Dexter through Lila and finally throwing Doakes and Dex against each other. The third season isn't for many that good, but I liked it. Again it explored something different, if Dexter could find someone to share his secret with. And how he could not. It also featured a low tier serial killer that I didn't mind as much because he wasn't really the main issue of the season. Dexter had to face family issues and it was not only watchable but emotional, too. The forth brought Trinity killer, a veteran murderer, which helped Dexter consider his future family life. The main villain was very charismatic and the ending had a huge shocking quality. Sadly, the fifth season seemed to almost forgot the previous events and created a mixture between season 2 and 3. I don't want to mention the villains because they felt like Dexter's regular kills. Horrible sub-plots: Quinn's investigation and Debra's approval of the lady killer. First examples how the writers fear hard decisions. And now we have this season. The serial killers are kind of good, definitely better than the last ones, but the writing got terrible. Everything that made Dexter is missing or butchered. The writing is all over the place. Some moments I can't believe it's Dexter, the rest is only okay. Fuck, I can't wait for Breaking Bad.
I used to love the show but now it has gone to shit and I find it a chore to sit through every episode as the story isn't really going anywhere and it just drags on...
you're late and apparently, people have seen geller walking around
damn couldn't find it anywhere
The confession was fucking stupid. [editline]22nd November 2011[/editline] The whole show is so far over the shark.
I used to just roll my eyes at Rusty's numerous complaints about the show's writing, but its gotten to the point where I can't even go "Yeah it's definitely not as good as it used to be, but it's still pretty good." The writing is just atrocious now. I was hoping after the abortion that was last season that this season would be a redemption of sorts. Sadly, it has not delivered in the slightest. It has brief moments of the old Dexter followed by this new shit the writers churn out. The part in the latest episode where he just drives up to the church, making enough noise for Gellar to notice him, and then just walks through the front door finished this series for me. I can't watch anymore, it's not even close to the show I loved so much back in season 1. I mean christ, I was hoping Gellar was going to knock Dexter the fuck out for being so careless. Totally out of character.

Eh, I'm still at the "this isn't as good as the first four seasons but it's still pretty good" part
Eh, I'm still at the "this isn't as good as the first four seasons but it's still pretty good" part
well 3 was pretty bad [editline]22nd November 2011[/editline] though not this glaringly obviously bad
Actually season 3 is far from being the worse now that season 5 and 6 exist. I kind of like season 3, it's not bad.
Miguel was hilarious enough to make up for half of it being a spanish soap-opera
i liked miguel and how Dexter was trying to troll him. "They said that stain would come out."
I still like the. I admit that it's no way near as good as it started out to be, however, it's still not a bad show in my opinion. I still find it somewhat entertaining, which is why I keep on watching it.
i liked miguel and how Dexter was trying to troll him. "They said that stain would come out."
Yeah, that was really funny.
Oh you such whiny bitches, it's still a great series. Hardly anything has changed. It's just the Dexter's character and how he sometimes kills people outside of Harry's Code in this season and in previous ones too. It's cool imo. What bothered me more was how evidently he could clear a crime scene with only a glimpse at the blood. Also finding out about the abandoned church address so easily. So there is a bit of bad writing, but not too much really. After all if I'm right, it's now a popular star-show? That might bring bad writing I guess. Previous seasons were all great, and there are still similarities.
I miss the young Dexter clips like this. I'm forgetful, but I don't think we've had one since like ages. Probably since Dexter has his past and shit all figured out by now. Ghost dad's coming to him instead of the other way around I guess.
Probably since Dexter has his past and shit all figured out by now. Ghost dad's coming to him instead of the other way around I guess.
That's character development I'd say. He indeed has everything figured out, he's always been steps ahead of anybody anyway throughout the entire series too. And the young Dexter clips almost always had some lesson in them that Dexter was remembering. Plus Brian was reminding Dexter about his past, stirring shit up you know?
Oh yeah, of course. I barely pay attention to a lot of stuff like that when watching shows. Which is probably why I'm enjoying season 6? :B

I just think you brought a good point by saying that Dexter has all the shit figured out by now, he's a master, which explains why he has killed people more recklessly in this season, and not just this season but also after Rita died. Or maybe the writers just wanted to give the audience some quick bodies. I don't know. Take your pick.
