Do you think girls in Medieval and Ancient times were better looking than modern girls?
Actually, the poorer people in medieval times were often very thin. They usually didn't have a lot to eat. The more rich you were, the more food you could afford. Basically the fatter you were was a sign of a more luxurious life and showed other people that you had money. At least that was what I was told.
Yeah that's a good thing for a man, it signifies that he commands resources, but what good would it do for a woman of the same period?
Up until the 20th century fat was considered a sign of wealth and health because it meant you were able to afford excessive amounts of food, or if you were exceedingly lucky, able to produce excessive amounts of food on your farm (Although being able to do this would also keep you physically fit, mentioned later, so it would likely be the inactive (Very old if they lived that long, possibly very young) who would build up fat) . So success either way. So the most civilised and hygienic women would most likely be enormous while anything we would consider 'beautiful' today would likely be only from a mildly successful family.
Although successfulness/wealth and beauty could or are separate things (Depends on the culture I suppose), fat would be attractive for that reason. Although there were obviously other attractions to the physically fit, mostly regarding men though, because a physically fit man could provide for you and/or protect you, and that's where a lot of basic attractions come from as opposed to the fatness which was more cultural than instinctive and truly ancient.
Also twice monthly baths is a load of shit, wasn't it Elizabeth I who had a yearly bath?
Protip: They had makeup in ancient times.
Although most times it was made with lead.
In old days fat was a luxury. Now it's opposite.

that's what I was about to say. and if you've been told what life was like back then, you'd know this was probably true.
Vintage porn is real porn.
I can't imagine them being more attractive because my culture is attracted to totally different aspects of a woman. What men are women are attracted to has changed a lot over time. For example, just a few century ago being the whitest you can be was what was considered attractive. But in today's time, everyone wants to be tan.
Also, in the middle ages, anyone who wasn't poor would have terrible teeth because they indulged in sugar. Sugar was a big thing among the wealthy, and people tried to get their teeth the worst they can get because it was a display of wealth.
Fatter women were seen as richer back in the day, which was attractive to people back at that time. If you look at the Mona Lisa you'll notice that she's somewhat chubby, but my guess is that she was seen as an incredibly beautiful woman back then. Now the painting is just mostly known for her enigmatic smile that makes you wonder what she's hiding.
no because i find independent women very attractive.
i know i may be the minority, but medieval girls are better
however i'm pretty sure they are impossible to find unless you find someone insane who believes they are in the medieval times. But then again, we don't really have too much of an idea of how they looked, just pretty movie stars. All the ones that had portraits only came to power and had portraits because they were pretty.
I prefer girls without makeup on, they appear more attractive.
not without but i prefer minimal makeup
since I am too lazy to edit and i am also bumping the thread, 50s women ftw. better than any kind

i prefer it if they don't cook or clean

So you think you should be the sole person in charge of cooking and cleaning.
two minutes a bump does not make.
shhhhh
also conservative women r better, independence is too masculine...
however that doesn't mean I want a stupid wife
I remember some documentary (saw it on Nat Geo, IIRC) about women and their changes on their shape over the last 200 years... it said something about women being a little shorter and smaller (in pretty much every way) than nowadays, and that we have "bigger" women thanks to the food we've been eating for the last 100 years... like, their feet grew a few sizes, for instance.

What the fuck do you want? No food and a messy house? :psyduck:
if you don't cook how do you eat? I imagine at resturants but that is costly. Living off of fast food will kill you pretty soon. And if you just don't cook and survive off of packaged foods like chocolate chips, pretzels, and others, that'd be pretty boring
steak FTW
but we arn't talking about meat here
cooking and cleaning is 4 women
being stressed about jobs is 4 men
perfect combination for a shallow but happy mariage
THE END

i hate it when girls agree or go along with you just so you'll like em

Uhh, no. Both women and men should cook and clean and work. They should also look after children equally because and a couple it is their duty to make sure they are getting fed, their children are getting fed and they live in a safe, clean environment. There needs to be compromise and work from both sides.

I think I like the 40's.
Well back then the stank was so prevalent that nobody minded it.
So you prob. wouldn't either if you lived in their time.
On that note, I think that the era of the black and white film had the prettiest women. Case in point:

I wonder if that has something to do with no specific facial details being shown as it is lower quality, and black and white.
you guys are so sexist
thanks bro
also grant, what is your opinion on this whole medeival/modern/50s thing?
I wonder if that has something to do with no specific facial details being shown as it is lower quality, and black and white.
Yeah you can't see the blemishes or other unattractive features because it is low quality.
Also I like modern women the best. Most of the medieval women were fat/had no curves/smelly.
