Up until the 20th century fat was considered a sign of wealth and health because it meant you were able to afford excessive amounts of food, or if you were exceedingly lucky, able to produce excessive amounts of food on your farm (Although being able to do this would also keep you physically fit, mentioned later, so it would likely be the inactive (Very old if they lived that long, possibly very young) who would build up fat) . So success either way. So the most civilised and hygienic women would most likely be enormous while anything we would consider 'beautiful' today would likely be only from a mildly successful family. Although successfulness/wealth and beauty could or are separate things (Depends on the culture I suppose), fat would be attractive for that reason. Although there were obviously other attractions to the physically fit, mostly regarding men though, because a physically fit man could provide for you and/or protect you, and that's where a lot of basic attractions come from as opposed to the fatness which was more cultural than instinctive and truly ancient. Also twice monthly baths is a load of shit, wasn't it Elizabeth I who had a yearly bath?
This.
Thinness only became a big thing after the first world war. See, at that time, that war was a real apocalypse, for the entirety of Europe. (Of course, later on WWII was even more of a disaster) People realized how fragile and vulnerable their whole life and world was, and how insignificant they were in the modern times. That was the time when the "Hell yea, stay young as long as we can and enjoy life-WHILE WE STILL CAN" lifestyle arisen, bringing the modern sense of beauty, and the modern relation to youth and stuff.
No. But the 18th and 19th century.
18th Was no better. 19th.. Maybe..
It was understood in Ancient Greek and Rome, and later on in the Byzantine Empire, that a healthy diet means neither starvation nor gluttony. Fatness was not generally considered healthy or attractive amongst the elite. I think European court ideals were similar all through from the collapse of Rome to this day, but there were some periods when some utterly ridiculous shit was considered attractive so I don't want to touch that subject.
Well, is there evidence? Are they descendants of the peasants of Wiltshire? Well anyway, Helen of Troy seems to have been a hot person.
Fuck you, I come from Wiltshire
The ones from the Greek cities and Roman empire, probably. The ones in medieval times? Wealthy ones were fat. So no.

It will always be like that.
I find women attractive in Victorian era clothes. I know this isn't the right thread, but who agrees with me? Movie stars in those always looks hot. Or modern women in those. I meant models dressing in it.... Pin up girls also look hot like these: I think modern people in older generation clothes looks hotter.
To be honest, I think average women nowadays need to stop worrying about how orange / anorexic they can get. I find it more attractive to not look like a mannequin / porn star.
They didn't shave their legs or armpits. Fucking yum.
To be honest, I think average women nowadays need to stop worrying about how orange / anorexic they can get. I find it more attractive to not look like a mannequin / porn star.
The reason for all the orange people is that there's been a breakout at Charlie's chocolate factory. If you spot one of these escapees, please inform the local authorities, and they will be humanely put down.
Helen of Troy was apparently so beautiful, she could set sail to a 1000 ships (I hope I'm not quoting the wrong chick here) Todays' Skanks set fire to my brains with fury. I'd have to say Medieval.

Cavewomen were hot as hell
Not really
the fatasses depicted in renaissance art represented some kind of beauty standard
Dumb/Disagree
Because cubism was an art trend in the middle ages
:science:
I can't really tell, since I haven't and can't see what they look like.
no makeup = instant boner kill you guys are desperate then......
Those disagrees you got there says otherwise. I myself am opposed to makeup, a little is fine but a natural look is always better if you ask me. It's not like I put on makeup, so why should they? What they really were like. (without the sunglasses)
I might tap that.
They would have fucking awful diets so terrible skin and posture. Don't forget the complete disregard to what we call hygeine. Also they would have scars, boils etc. Good personality? Most would have no education, no knowledge of science or literature, and all of the would be religious zealots. Anyone who says that medieval chicks were hotter is being moronic.
holy christ look at the gums on the big one.
:gonk:
Egyptians aren't people, so therefore their drawings are just markings of their territory, end of story if i may have offended an Egyptian FP user, i give you my insincere apology lol
I really think that you're mentally disabled
Hell no. They didn't have much hygiene.
They pooped in bowls and threw it out the window onto other girls in the streets. :FYH:
Medieval woman were all fat, smelly, dirty, and had completely black teeth. If that's the 'natural look' you're looking for, then you're all set.

let's just all agree that 50s women are the best, ok?
let's just all agree that 50s women are the best, ok?
Bird's nest hairstyles? No thanks.
I like the non-tanned modern women best. Those spray tans are awful.
