The only people who recommend it are religious fanatics and psychologists who are 20 years out of date.

No, they are who they want to be. I would treat them with the respect they deserve to choose that for themselves. It's what they want, I can accept that. But then again, my parents are into S&M stuff, my dad is gay, and much of my family is weird. I am much more forgiving for peoples' differences I suppose.

I would think of them differently, but not worse. Knowing of a "secret" of your offspring will always CHANGE what you think of them, but if it makes you think worse of it, you're a horrible parent. My two cents

Doctors will take a 40-year-old man with a young son and daughter and a wife and make him into a woman. Both treatments can be majorly disruptive in the patients' lives, and in both cases, the patient would be better off if somehow he were just happier the way he is.

Unfortunately with a lot less checking and psychologists then trans people have to go through. It is not just one day "oh I want to be a woman I will go have the op" it is years of therapy and at least two of living as a female.

It would be somewhat awkward to see that my son/daughter, after the many years I've known them and nurtured them, that they wanted a sex change. Of course, I would support them, but it would just be awkward. I would treat them the way I would always treat them. Edit: Unless they are really fucking annoying due to the sex change, then maybe I would say different.
