Better fucking not be.
Well why else [sp] would his own coworkers not tell him something about himself. Makes sense if he is just a clone/android/life model decoy with false memories. [/sp]
I refuse to believe, that's way too cheap.
I loved that. Really entertaining, and high production values as well. The writing was classic Joss.
I am curious on [sp]what is really going on with Coulson, especially since we know the Tahiti story is a lie.[/sp] There are so many routes they could go.
Like the route to Tahiti. It's a magical place.
I concur with the others, I would find that revelation to be a huge let down. [sp]Thankfully, Joss said that this show will be grounded, so something like that would seem to go against having the story grounded. And Coulson is one my favorites, I don't want them to screw it up.[/sp]
While watching this show,
Eh, I wouldn't mind if the twist was that [sp]he's a life model decoy, it is after all a huge part of the SHIELD lore and it wouldn't really be cheap at all... I mean, how would it be any cheaper than any other explanation?[/sp].
I didn't exactly liked it. Maybe if I were a total Marvel fan, I would love it, but if we look at it as a individual TV series, it's not exactly good. The humor had something from Whedon, but at times it was try too hard that it came as unfunny and silly. The two scientists are the best example. I'll probably give it a shot next week, but I'm not totally bought with it.
From the trailer I saw what appeared to be Power Man, fuck yeah Power Man!
I watched it again and I'm really on the fence on this one. It was really, really narmy, but I can excuse that because I'm big on campy things like this as long as it's not excessively bad. I feel like the character of Coulson is inconsistent. He worked really well as a foil to those around him in previous movies, but on his own as a figure of authority I'm not sure he has the chops to make it. I think the goofy, quiet guy with nerves of steel could pay off but at times it felt like his demeanor didn't suit him. [sp]For example, when he yells at the two lab techs whose names I forgot to just "get it done," it came across as out of character and almost as if he was ineffectual as a leader.[/sp] That said, many other moments really worked with his character. His goofy, innocent grin made for some great moments. [sp]My favorite moment was when Skye was in her van making a broadcast of some sort, and Coulson just opens the door with his signature grin.[/sp] I'll give it the benefit of the doubt and watch a few more episodes. It seems like it could genuinely be fun, so I'm excited in seeing what they can do.
You make a lot of good points. One thing though that I think is that [sp]Coulson's outburst seemed oddly... In character to me. It caught me, but it didn't seem that out of place. Maybe his brush with death (or actual death, which he may not know about) shook him a little. Maybe he's not comfortable with killing if he can help it now. Not to mention Cap's his hero, meaning his moral compass is probably pretty straight.[/sp]

I wanna see the Xmen universe with the 'Marvel' universe. I know its unrelated to the show (which btw, i like it so far.) I still want to see that one day.
Ah welcome back to TV Whedon :)
Mm TV is becoming more and more filmic in look and feel (even big names popping up more often). It's always jarring coming back to a show which is happily just a TV show.
eh it was okay I'll give it another try like Captain Chalky said other show's like from AMC/HBO make normal tv eh
A preview of episode 2 [editline]28th September 2013[/editline] [sp]So Ian Hart is playing Dr. Franklin Hall, AKA the supervillain Graviton, in this series, and the trailer for the rest of the season shows what appears to be gravity based shenanigans, so he may have his powers.[/sp] [sp]If he does, how are the team supposed to take him? It usually takes the combined might of the Avengers to take him on, and even then it's usually only Thor or the Hulk that can really stand up to him.[/sp]
Just watched the premiere of this show. Damn, that was good. I don't know why people are complaining it was "good but not great" - unless you were counting for The Avengers to show up, this is as good as it gets, especially for a pilot. I was expecting it to be a lot less impressive visual effects wise, too; it's clear from even the pilot that they have an enormous budget. Most impressive pilot, SFX-wise, I've seen since Lost's. Also, I remember reading some guy saying every set looked so fake, which is hilarious considering they actually went and filmed in the locations - they did go to Paris, for instance. People are so used to good fakes they can't recognize reality.
How good would this have been if they kept the 'Coulson is still alive' thing secret and out of the marketing.
How good would this have been if they kept the 'Coulson is still alive' thing secret and out of the marketing.
While it would've been a magnificent reveal, it kinda makes sense they went this way. He's a fan-favorite character, so they have to use him to draw in the general crowd. While it does happen in the Avengers universe, that alone might not have been enough to bring in a ton of people. Speaking of which, how the heck is Coulson allowed to go out in public? In a world where everyone has a cell phone that can take pictures and record video, it's only a matter of time before one of Coulson's escapades gets posted to YouTube. At least one of the Avengers (probably not Thor because he's on another planet and everything) is bound to find out about his survival sooner or later.

I have no doubt in my mind that an Avenger will appear. Even if it's brief. Maybe not Iron Man or Thor as they require a shit ton of expensive effect work. But Cap and Hawkeye and Widow are options. Banner is always a possibility as he isn't getting a movie. Holy shit a finale with Hulk would be the shit.
Calling it tomorrow that Nick Fury makes an appearance after the credits
Show is alright imo would still watch [sp]I think Skye (Chloe Bennet) is hot[/sp]
Actually, Tony Stark with no armor would be very much possible.
Sadly, I imagine the fees to get those actors to guest star an episode would take up most of the show's budget.
Sadly, I imagine the fees to get those actors to guest star an episode would take up most of the show's budget.
Not if it's already in his contract!
Sadly, I imagine the fees to get those actors to guest star an episode would take up most of the show's budget.
Depends on whether the star wants to be paid (if they can volounteer depening on contractual obligations) iirc, SLJ volounteered to guest star in break bad, for no fee, but was rejected.
Cause she's a mediocre actress maybe
Possible spoilers: Interesting
Cause she's a mediocre actress maybe
Woah woah woah. Since when did Samuel L Jackson become mediocre? And an ACTRESS? I mean- does he look like a bitch? No I think he was denied because everybody will be like "Holy shit it's Samuel L Jackson dressed as Nick Fury in the background of this episode of Breaking Bad" and it'll be distracting. I think if he turned up to the set and asked for a part without his Nick Fury outfit on they might've let him do it.
I thought you meant Scarlett Johansson
Just finished watching tonight's episode. Pretty good. [SP]Samuel L. Jackson appears at the end.[/SP]
[sp]"... Kill the fish tank."[/sp] So goddamn hilarious.
