just bought some lens caps, man it feels weird.
yay, did my second paid photoshoot yesterday :D (or possibly first, still not sure about being paid for the first) fuck yeah
How did you manage to start getting paid?
my friend, who's been doing freelance webdesign for the last few years, finally started a proper website, with him, me and another person, all of us able to do different things, offering our services as a single entity basically. he was doing a design for drummer (and another one for the band that the drummer is a part of), and being as awesome as he is, he managed to convince him that nice photos would really help. also gonna arrange a bigger shoot with the band at some point soon as well! the drummer really liked the photos (i also posted two of them in the photo thread yesterday), and said he'll recommend me to other people as well, and try to get us more work. =D i do kind of question whether or not my skills (or possibly lack of thereof) deserve payment, but if people like it and are willing to pay, why the hell not!

Instead of rendering it, I ended up having to use fraps to capture the preview. I tried everything else, even using a cff editor to fuck with the codecs and file io bins.
I love how this bokeh came out.

Laugh all the way to court. You can then sue for damages to property, not a light case when we're talking hundreds, if not several thousand dollars worth of glass, damage to time and business given if you have that glass you must be doing some work as a photographer, and replacing them takes time and money which could lose major projects. If this happened before a wedding, the loss would be substantial and it could hurt the business name as a whole when people find out their photographer can't come because his girlfriend threw a hissy fit. Throw 'mental distress' on top, it's a good icing to a case since no one can prove you didn't end up having a mental breakdown as a result of the above implications to your business and equipment.
At least he has someone to legally blame. Imagine, for example, if his child had done the smashing.
At least he has someone to legally blame. Imagine, for example, if his child had done the smashing.
I believe the parents of the child would be legally responsible to pay damages.
I meant his own child.
Oh, that makes more sense.
not mine d'aww in other news, I'm totally gonna rasterbate all over my studio
I've designed a new logo what do you people think?
I think the vector art looks ok (sans the tshirt / pants texture), but I'm not a fan of the typography of the text.
for about three to five minutes this morning, everything was amazing. Solid orange halo around the sunrise, and TWO solid orange rainbow-disks. The first dissipated mostly by the time I got out to it. Nice
Here we go again. Recently met this guy, a little over his head. Notice the fuckoff watermark on every picture, despite the fact that if you upload a photo to Facebook, they own the rights to it. https://www.facebook.com/pages/MattBIRD-photography/146230752110868

https://www.facebook.com/pages/MattBIRD-photography/146230752110868
That's ridiculous. I don't understand how someone can get their head so far up their own ass.

Honestly, he's at the point where I just feel sorry him. It's going to hit him hard one day that he isn't where he thinks he is as a photographer. You can tell by the pictures (and his pride in them) that he hasn't an ounce of humility in him.
gonna be shooting Bearsden's Go Big Or Go Home! so i'm thinking of scraping together £40 to hire a 70-200 f/4L IS for a decent tele zoom. Any idea how I could recoup my spending?
You're better off hiring a flash.
I would but a) the kicker is already surrounded by flashes [editline]16th June 2011[/editline] b) i can't afford it
