All the images are loading for me, odd
Off on my first Urbex exploration this weekend, I hope. I found out about an abandoned military base just down the road that's due to be demolished to build flats. Better get in quick, eh?

I always try to avoid taking shots of flowers because I know how repetitive they are, but today I saw this lone flower at least 2 feet tall just standing there in my yard with no flowers around it and it was too cool to avoid.
storm passing overhead right now. http://rocphotography.net/Galleries/Personal/2011_6_21%20Lightning/
Portrait session on Caturday. Best get my SB-700 back then or ELSE.
Bought cheap Fuji Superia 200 and Kodak Colorplus from poundland as an experiment since I got my hands on an XA2. Going to put 120 format Kodak Portra 160 NC into that Balda Baldix too.
I just got done chasing down a brown bear for 1/2 a mile. It was in my compost bin eating egg shells and stuff when I went to go get my camera, and by the time I came back he was walking into the woods. I stayed behind him and out of sight up until I realized there was a cub somewhere and I wasn't sure if I was between them, so I had to get out of there. Never got the shot... :argh:
You could be talking about hunting right now and we'd never know
I recently bought a camera from ebay but the photos are over exposed, I was wondering if anyone here might know whats causing it or even how to fix it? I created a hread in tech support with some images taken with it http://www.facepunch.com/threads/1099950-Camera-over-exposed-in-light Thanks if anyone can check it out
"According to The Oxford English Dictionary, the word "snapshot" was originally a hunting term." - Sy, the creepy ass photo guy.
What's making this shot look like this? http://i.imgur.com/o05rx.jpg I'm not talking about the bokeh, but just how the flower looks. I didn't edit it at all, it's straight out of the camera.
The parts of the flower closer to the camera are out of focus, because you're focused on the petal that is slightly further away. If it was unintentional, the AF probably decided on those further petals because the closest ones are below the lens' minimum focus distance.
I was focusing manually on the pollen things in the middle of the flower.
Use a narrower aperture.
I was focusing manually on the pollen things in the middle of the flower.
That's a completely normal result. The pollen things are slightly 'further ou't than the petals closest to you. Just like how the background goes out of focus in shallow DOF, so will the foreground. If you try to 'stop down' (close up the aperture) in these macrotastic instances, you will need to stop down ALOT, as most of the shallow DOF is caused by focal length, rather than aperture. You'll still get insane bokeh at f/11 if you're at your lens' minimum focus distance. The best way to combat this is to compose from a better angle so you don't have out of focus, non-important elements distracting from the subject. Or back the fuck up so the depth of field encloses the entirety of the space around the flower. Focused on the 'A' in 'PORTRA'
I understand that it's out of focus, and I understand why it's out of focus. I just think it looks even weirder than just out of focus. I don't know, there's something that looks strange about the shot.
Is it that the petals merge with the background bokeh a little?
Was recording some friends tunes in my schools recording studio today, we used the vocal mic as a speaker and pumped out dubstep at max volume though two marshall amps through the whole music department. Good times.
