does it go through those photos automatically?
currently you have to press either the arrows or one of the dots at the bottom, although it can be automated if you want it to be (simple javascript settings in the script).

Wires everywhere, also love the tower.
I was wondering, can a camera decide what shutter speed to use if you're using a lens without electricity? Or will you have do everything manually?
My D80 can't. Heard some have built in exposure meters, think the D7k has them.
as far as I'm aware, it still meters the light, but obviously cannot decide nor control focus or aperture. Some cameras require full manual (but will show metering +/- to help you guess exposure), and some will let you set it to aperture priority and it will measure out the proper exposure; some lenses are tricky and you have to adjust exposure compensation up a little because it thinks the aperture is wider than it is. I think it's because it's a full frame lens with an aperture meant for full frame, rather than crop, so it's positioned wonky.
Alright thanks! I might get the Samyang 85 mm f/1.4 since the lenses that came with my camera is pretty crappy, and only has an f stop at 4.5 I believe.

Yes, I am aware it has manual focus
85 is tight as a cunt even on fullframe, be careful.

Of course. But I don't own a fullframe, and if I did, I most definitely wouldn't buy a really cheap lens.
[sp]I have a Sony a230[/sp] :saddowns:

That's the thing, it will be even tighter.

You'll be stuck with a 'zoomed in' lens.
I've now been drunk four days in a row. But the streak is going to end tonight, unless someone is ready to pay for my booze, cause I've used every damn penny that I own.
I guess that 7D will have to wait.

This happened to me, my lens savings went down the drain :v:
I got all the stuff for my film scanner, but I can't figure out why I can't get it to work. If any of you have experience with SCSI film scanners, can you check this thread I made in Tech Support?

Thanks
Portrait shoot in half an hour, damn I'm nervous! flash in my right hand shooting through a white umbrella should do the trick hopefully. I want these to really impress, but at the same time its my first proper portrait experience.
Saw a Fox this morning when i went out to take These.

explains how those cameras work
I've very recently started taking a genuine interest in photography, and I realized that I kind of suck. I got a camera (Canon EOS 1000D aka Canon Rebel XS) a few years ago and it's kind of sat since then, with intermittent periods of use. A lot of my general suck is because I neglected to learn a lot of important things and essentially used the rather expensive gift as a glorified point and shoot with a nice lens. I have started to learn about camera functions and have stopped shooting with auto-focus on. To make a pointlessly long post shorter, I'd like to know if the Photography section of Facepunch has any tips for someone who wants to learn, or some sites that might help and such like.
Not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but I didn't think it deserved its own thread so I went for the most general thread. :v:

This thread can really help out with the basics:

If you post in the creative photography with your photos, I'm sure some people would give you pointers too.

Heh, you're funny
got a 1000D and shit at photography?
it's another me

Don't avoid using auto-focus just because you feel like you have to use manual to photograph things "properly." Auto-focus is one of those features that even the pros use regularly. The difference is that most photographers use auto-focus points, not "full" auto-focus, which allows them to define what part of the photo they want in focus (and the subject doesn't necessarily have to be right under that point when you take the photo, just when you push the shutter release down halfway.)
Welp, just got home from a tour to DC. The middle school went on a trip, and they said I could come too, as long as I took pictures. I was able to get ~1300, and I will dump them here in the morning.
PS, school teachers will pay a damn fine amount of money for you to take pictures of them on a trip for a week.

I hate it when my flatmate does that.
