I just turned on a pair of '80s-ish movie lights my dad bought ages ago for no reason really and HOLY SHIT MY EYES AHHHHHHHHHGGGGGG! The best thing I could use to describe how bright they are is really brighter than the sun. And these fuckers are hot too, I half feel like trying to cook something with them someday.
Is this a good deal for $75? Minolta X370 35mm SLR Lenses: Tokina 35-70mm Tokina 80-200mm with filter adapters for both lenses and five filters Vivitar 2600D flash Camera bag included
I'm not too sure what the lenses are really worth, but given you've got two nice ranged lenses, tons of adapters, and a flash I'd say (judging by ebay standards) that's roughly $50-$70 worth. I'm seeing a handful of bodies for $10-$20, and a bunch of stuff including extra lenses, a flash and even the electric winder attachment for less than $50. Some for more, I saw a nice 50mm prime lens with a huge aperture selling with a body for $60
If you are shooting film a good 50mm prime is wonderful to work with, I almost never find myself needing another focal length.
oh damn camera and 50mm 1.7 http://cgi.ebay.com/Minolta-X-370-SLR-35mm-Camera-/280709458047?pt=Film_Cameras&hash=item415b96687f#ht_500wt_1413
You are bidding on a Minolta X-370 SLR 35mm Film Camera. It also has the original camera information sheet, Vivitar book and audio cassette that reads Improve Your Photography. I have not used this camera. All of our items are sold AS-IS, but we always work with our customers. Bidding early will only attract other bidders to stack the price on you over time.

Why not? They seem pretty nice to me.
if you're a businessperson, fine. but if you're a stupid 13 year old girl who uses BBM to message your retarded buddies you should remove yourself from the planet

guys guys guys nikon d5100 or canon eos rebel t3i?
kneekwon dee ninety
Nikon D90 if you don't mind used, you may be able to find it new for the same price as the D5100. If you have to have something new, don't waste your money on a D5100, just get a D3100 (unless you HAVE to have bracketing.) Honestly though, I don't own a D90 but based on the fact that it has a built-in focus motor (therefore, compatibility with many more lenses) I would have purchased that had I not gotten such a steal on my D3100.
Am I the only one who likes taking photos more at night than during the day? There's less distractions plus it's cooler outside.
Am I the only one who likes taking photos more at night than during the day? There's less distractions plus it's cooler outside.
I generally likes to take shots at night time, but there's absolutely nothing interesting in my area.
I generally likes to take shots at night time, but there's absolutely nothing interesting in my area.
Make it interesting, set your camera up on a tripod and start running with multi-colored lights or something.
guys guys guys nikon d5100 or canon eos rebel t3i?
It depends what use you want it for, however if you are looking to shoot video at all, then aim for the t3i. They have their advantages and disadvantages. However you seem to be just jumping into buying a DSLR, use film before dropping lots onto a DSLR.
i have a d50 from 5 years ago, time for an upgrade. and my mom always uses it to take pictures of sporting events and crap, and she still wants it, so my parents are letting me to get a new one
If your mom lets you use her Nikon lenses (that is if she has more than the kit lens), going Nikon may be a better option. On the other hand you could go canon to stop her stealing your own lenses and breaking them.
So today I learned about tone curves. I had used curves before, but never really knew what I was doing with them. Then I read this article: http://www.reddit.com/r/photoclass/comments/dga35/photoclass_lesson_23_levels_and_curves/ and learned how it relates to the histogram, even though I use Lightroom instead of Photoshop. HO. LY. SHIT. I'd always felt like a lot of my images were a little flat - this is opening up a whole new level of editing for me, I'm really liking it!
Got a pretty big collection of unedited photo here from Sweden. CAN'T WAIT TILL' I GET HOME!
I've got a client's boyfriend yelling at me because it's allegedly taking too long to edit up pictures, which were just supposed to be tweak-ups of background clutter for sake of prints; they have the SOOC shots with lightroom tweaks already, which look fine posting to facebook and various online stuff. I had talked to the girl earlier, she made it seem like she's in no hurry to get the extra stuff done, but the guy is having a meltdown over facebook about it. I'd already explained that I'm taking care of major projects with my main business that pay the bills (and I'm currently owed $16,000 between various clients who are being asshats and skirting around sending checks so I'm flopping like a fish flopping around trying to find water right now), and just haven't had time to sit and nit-pick several hundred photos just to clean backgrounds quite yet.
$16k? Nice.
$16k? Nice.
Granted it's large 3D arch rendering projects over the course of the past year, it makes sense, but architects are notorious jerks with beating around the bush on paying for shit. Just got $500 in from a project I did February. Also the money has to be split between me, my dad and the business, so I'm not seeing all of it, especially after tax junk. :/
heh, this competition is having it's winners announced in a few days. I think I have a chance considering the standard of 'photography' from people my age (no disrespect to others here who are ~16, most of you are far, far above the average). I entered (a cleaned up version of) this shot:

I've found a few but I don't meet the criteria for any of them, it's either for 18+, is in an area of photography I don't do, or has a ton of professionals entering.

It's 4PM, light's on, my walls are blue, what ISO\F\Expo should I use to shoot a guitar hanging on the wall? I'm playing with it right now, no stunning results.
So is a Canon EOS Rebel xs film camera (not digital) with manual, a caring case and two lenses( 35-105mm and 28-200mm) for $75 a decent deal?
It's 4PM, light's on, my walls are blue, what ISO\F\Expo should I use to shoot a guitar hanging on the wall? I'm playing with it right now, no stunning results.
Honestly, the things that make a stunning photo generally come in composition (finding the best angle and position and lining up the shot) and lighting. Usually a bit of editing can also give your photos a bit of an extra pop or whatever tone you want the photo to have - it's a typical part of a photographer's workflow. The settings you use on the camera have a fairly limited range of effects on your photo, and I'm going to assume you already know what they are (if not, there are loads of tutorials on the internet on the effects of aperture, shutter speed, and ISO.) For this particular shot, I'd say if you have a tripod, go with ISO 100 (or whatever the lowest on your camera is) with an aperture based on how much depth of field you want. If you're shooting it from a "normal" distance, I'd probably just go f/8 to get the sharpest picture. If you are up close, you can use a wider aperture (lower f/ number) to get more depth of field. Once you have your ISO and aperture set, just set the shutter speed to balance everything out according to your light meter. If you don't have a tripod, you're going to want to set your shutter speed first - probably between 1/60 and 1/40, depending on how still you can hold your camera. Since you're indoors, you're not going to get a lot of light, so choose your widest aperture (lowest f/ number) and then set your ISO to balance things out. In this situation though, since you're shooting a non-moving subject indoors, I think a tripod would be your best option.
Alright I got lost at aperture, what's that?, I just tried reading it and the tutorials are written in such high-leveled english which I just lost myself. Quick bro-tutorial? [editline]29th July 2011[/editline] Ah, aperture- F#? Alright.
