Hey guys! I need help.. I'm going to photograph some skaters soon (For practice and BRO-BONDING), and I was wondering.. How would I go about? I know, fast shutter speed, but what sort of angle?
Well, I'd say wide and low, but then again everyone who takes photos of skaters seems to do that
The best skate-shots I've seen are with the fisheye, I dunno why, I loved em.

Took into consideration what was told to me about the latest post, tried to look for something interesting in my room.

Ah, wrong thread. oh well.

Like Uber|nooB, Wide and low works pretty well. Try to get on your knees and try to capture some tricks mid air, especially those when the skater is coming from higher above.
Those shots work the best mostly because you can see the board and the feet.
What also works is being a bit away from the skater to fit him plus the environment on the picture.
Just go and take a look at some "professional" skate pictures on the net, you can just go and try out some of the angles you see on those pictures. You can also try watching some skate movies as they tend to have some nice angles too. I also sometimes use the flash to get a very quick shutter speed but that is not needed, I just tend to do it sometimes as it can give you a very neat effect in which it looks like it's in the middle of the night even though the picture was actually shot in the middle of the day.
Sweet, thanks
I was thinking something similar with the flash Dom, should be exciting!
Again, thanks guys! I appreciate it!

Reminds me of one of my older shots;
Alright- two things.
One, I've signed up for a proper film photography class at the local college so I can learn to develop on my own, have some fun, and gain access to the photo lab so I don't have to work with internet-bought kits and make a mess when I'm learning.
Two, and I've said this before, but my old professors can go screw themselves. I assume you guys understand the concept of adjusted learning curves, where a teacher grades different students based on their overall expectations? Yeah, my digital photography teacher apparently blasted that curve into a new dimension.
I was usually done with editing homework so long before class ended that I spent most of my time walking around helping others use photoshop. I did all of the outside photo assignments, I paired up with kids who needed lots of help, and I flew through all the tests bored. The teacher even stated to the class, my final project was her favorite of the bunch.
Guess what the counselor told me when I was trying to sign up for new classes today? I got an F in the photography class.
I handed the counselor my card, laughing
Honestly had no clue I was even in danger back during class, usually a teacher will, y'know, confront you to mention you're not doing homework/passing tests/showing up enough.
I bet it felt good to leave that school though, I fired my current Media teacher - she was so full of shit, and then left.
Suddenly the only threads I've read that get new posts are in the photography section.
:v:
the entire digital media program ruined my chances of actually graduating from this place. The guy who took over ended up dividing one program into three or four more specific ones, meaning X amount of students from the previous course were divided into fourths, and now half of the required courses don't run.
inspired by cueball and bopie, i made a tumblr for photography, mainly posting my own stuff

Best way is to go out of your comfort zone. In the beginning it may feel a bit awkward, but once you start getting those shots, you'll feel like you can pick up any women in the world ;)
Be yourself, and get the shots that YOU WANT. That you like.

pfft! love that theme. i think the "faded images" effect that i put on, was a bit much...
Not quite sure if the 16 or so photos I want to share from the zoo are worth making a thread for.
do it

Just slowly post them over time in the Creative Photography Thread in groups of 2 or 3.
Do you guys normally prefer multiple SD cards or one doozy? I'm trying to decide whether to get two of 8GB's or stick with one 16GB. Though I'll probably be buying a 16GB at one point anyway.
Price ends up pretty much the same, though free shipping on the 8GB's.
I went with two 8GB cards myself.
I rarely use both though, but having multiple does have the advantage of only half your stuff being gone if one breaks / is stolen / otherwise unavailable.
That's what I'm thinking. Kind of tempted to order 3 at this point though.

It's mainly because I'll be gone 12 days with no internet access, and the photographs will be important for my fieldwork.
I have 4 4GB cards and just keep an empty one in my battery grip in the battery compartment in a little padded (to stop them rattling) nook I made. The rest are in my camera bag, but I generally never need more than 4GB for a days outing since I don't fire my camera like mad.
Another reason to me having 4 4GBs is my laziness to save up for one big one and instead buy 4GB cards incrementally as I needed them.
Rollin' with 8gb and 16gb, haven't used the 16 ever.
I have one 2 gig card. I don't need anything bigger.

Your post now makes it sound like different kind of size discussion.
In which case I use 3 64GB SD cards.
I got a 8GB CF, and as well as a few high capacity CF cards. It sucks when one day your out and you suddenly realize your card is full.
Been there, done that, not doing it ever again.

Well, I didn't want to start a "richie rich" post again, but, in this case. My two other main cards are both 32GB 567x CF cards. 8GB Sandisk one is just my spare.

Mines bigger.
Also I don't actually have that, I have an 8GB Carphone Warehouse SD card I bought off Bengley after I broke my main one.
I have 1 8gb, and 1 4gb. I used to have two 4gb but I lost one. The only problem is they're both class 4 which isn't fast enough for recording videos. I need a class 6 and up.

Why do you even need something that big?

I hate trying to find proper reviews of shit, or even just finding a good view so I know what the fuck the box comes with. All I needed was to see if there was a PC flash cable that came with these damn things
