Anyone have a portfolio they'd be willing to let me see? I'm thinking about making one and I need ideas.
Anyone have a portfolio they'd be willing to let me see? I'm thinking about making one and I need ideas.
http://500px.com/isaacbrownbridge 500px is good for lazy people like me.
Everywhere I go right now I think in terms of shutter and aperture values. Guys, I think photography is going to be my thing.

I'll point out how neat a scene looks and get blank stares back from whoever I'm with. [editline]august 16[/editline] Fix your Flickr link under your avatar!
I think I fixed it, I've been meaning to do that. :v:
is the dodge/burn tool in photoshop better to use than in lightroom? in lightroom it undoes the previous adjustments when i switch to anther type of brush, maybe im just doing it incorrectly
There's a little button in there somewhere that says "New" and next to it says "Edit". Click on "New" to make a new stroke and brush type.

Please can we have a rule where you can only post a 'yourname's photography' thread if actually have a portfolio instead of a few photos you took over the past few days with a point and shoot.
Please can we have a rule where you can only post a 'yourname's photography' thread if actually have a portfolio instead of a few photos you took over the past few days with a point and shoot.
Are you referring to my post with 40 photos or someone elses?
Are you referring to my post with 40 photos or someone elses?
Yours slightly but other peoples too, personally I think no one should make one unless they have been in this section for a while as there's no need to make a thread for photos you could post in the creative photography thread.
snip wrong thread
You would have probably been better off posting a few photos in the creative photography thread to be honest. That said most of the photos are very good for what they are, but they all seem to be macro's with uninteresting subjects which I personally find boring and generic.
If that is the case, you may want to also request a rule against macros, cats, and anything else you find 'boring' or 'generic'. Or you could just accept the current rule system. After all, you actually bumped my thread in the process of criticizing. So while you may not like my thread, you've bumped it not buried it. Don't see why it matters so much though. It is just a forum. You're not actually getting annoyed with people who "haven't been in the section awhile", are you? I personally haven't spent much time in this specific section, but I have been a member since 2005. And I say this to a general audience of whom it applies; adolescent newbies to Facepunch, should stop trying to moderate and just let the actual moderators do their job.

By no means I am saying it is bad to make a thread, but generally it's best to only make threads that are specifically about your entire portfolio after you have posted regularly in the creative photography thread.

When someone new to the section makes their first thread, they read the rules and they make a thread that fits within those rules. Yet you come in and 'correct' where no correction is necessary. Get it to become a rule first, then maybe you can make that correction, but I believe that daijitsu is quite competent and knew what he was doing when he wrote the rules. Cheers ;)

Guys I barely skimmed this but chill. I don't see why you new guys have a problem with sticking to the CPT, I've done so for a year and see no reason to make a thread for any of my photos, ever. You'll get a way better response from posting there rather than giving yourselves a false sense of entitlement.
to be honest, posting a new thread for your own photos is the only kind of new thread that you can really have in this section, because the megathreads cover everything already, but at the same time a lot of the photo threads aren't deserving of their own thread really so... if people have a problem with the threads then I think they should just leave them alone and let them drop to the bottom, it's not like they're taking up valuable thread space in the photography section, because like I said, the megathreads here cover everything so it's rare that people make new threads apart from 'look at my photos'
Well, in between this chatter today, I came up with an interesting subject for a photo. My lacerated hand; happened this morning. The blood squirted initially, hitting the ceiling, and the wall behind me. Deep, but luckily not enough to cut/damage the tendon. I've been told it looks like a vagina.

The rules aren't a bible to getting along with us, they just keep you from getting banned. He simply doesn't have the understanding of our social structure, nor the photographic experience, to throw his weight around like he does. I'm open to new people, but not when they suffer from being 'That Guy'. The only real advice I can give to DIFTOW is to stop posting and observe how we are here, along with taking a good long ponder about how he conducts himself.
wow, I thought the worst of this debate was over after I brought it up yesterday. for my opinion, I think that totally contentless posts should be deleted/banned, but if It's just a post filled with someone acting self-entitled then I think the better option is to ignore the thread and pet it sink to the bottom.
Ooo! Digitalrevs latest video! Opinions? I personally think some of the contributions were silly, like the girl with the big thighs, I mean.. What the heck? :v:
