I've been playing with my flatmate's extension tubes all day. I need my own, this was using a 50 1.4 and 48mm of extension, out of 68mm.
I'm so excited, I just got featured in a small art magazine, it's not much, but it's a start. You can find my image on page 8.

Also today I got my first photo with over 100 views! I really suggest poeple this Photo Documentary, it's a great little documentary from national geographic about their photographers and the photos that they have taken, It's only 51 minutes long. I really suggest everyone here to watch it, it's amazing.

Too bad my D80 can't meter :saddowns: Played with an extention tube before though, not that long, but i was able to shoot quite a bit nearer.
do extension tubes give you better DoF than reverse mounting?
So a photo of mine from Seattle got chosen to be a new Jones Soda label. That's pretty cool I guess. http://www.jonessoda.com/gallery/view.php?ID=1268409&search

just finished writing a mini autobiography for Moosef regarding my beginnings and motivation for photography. Got me all teary eyed, because it involves Lindsey, if any of you remember. A year and 3 months later, her headstone is finished. I went with her family this past sunday to see it, and one of my photos of her from barely a few weeks before she passed is etched on it. (not my picture, I'm going back for a good one [at the family's request] since it was raining hardcore when we went out there) [t]http://a4.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/314706_995173203089_32816728_43496461_2089901804_n.jpg[/t] far left. Terrible angle and water everywhere so you can't see it too well, but here- [t]http://i.imgur.com/RPVUh.png[/t] Not my favorite of the bunch I took (nor was the dress's poofyness too flattering, heh), but the family loves it and the whole collage really does show different aspects of such a silly girl. there's something terribly humbling thinking that nothing you will do from this point forward may really have such weight for myself nor so many people quite like this does. It's a major part of what makes me so critical of myself every time I reach for my camera, part of what drives me to keep improving myself and others, and makes me appreciate photography as something much more than a utilitarian activity, more than a hobby, and more than just capturing something that looks nice. Photography is personal, not only to me but to anyone who holds a camera. Some may not realize it's about their own work and not popularity, and a bunch probably won't find that out before dropping it, but there's a statement in every picture. Not something that can be explained, but a little quirk that defines the way it was taken, that is unique to the person, to the subject, and to the viewer. Truly understanding that balance one day is something I can probably only dream of, but knowing it's there is half of the journey as an artist.
Ep, how did you get ij the magazine?
do extension tubes give you better DoF than reverse mounting?
They will, and give you better optical performance. On top of that, they'll allow you to autofocus and control the aperture since they have contacts built in. i'll have to try out some macro tubes then. i'm just using this old minolta 35-80mm kit lens as a reverse macro (it was $4, and i have a 49mm reverse mount ring) and the light bleeding is awful
4am and I have to finish this assignment before 9am. mostly it's just copy+paste'ing info from a google doc into indesign
I don't see how finishing that before 9am could be an issue.
I don't see how finishing that before 9am could be an issue.
well, first of all I've had 5 hours sleep in the last 3 days :v: second it's not a single page, it's roughly 15 pages.

Hey guys. I was wondering if any of you bulk buy film online? I have a few friends who are interested in sharing the cost with me. Are there any sites from people in the UK - or even from the states if it's just as cheap from there that someone could point me in the direction of? Thanks in advance.
http://www.calumetphoto.co.uk/eng/browse/categories/film-darkroom/film are pretty cheap, but that's judging by their retail prices as I go there when I'm in Central London. I think it was like £3.18 for a roll of 120 FP4+ retail, not checked their bulk prices but they were offering 5 rolls of Ektar 120 for like £10 or £15 when I went there.
every time I see what Photoshop Disasters has to say on a new image, I find out they're retarded again. Half of the stuff is genuinely not photoshop retardation but odd tricks of the eye at best... but THIS THIS they fucking had a GOLDMINE. Like, you had to try HARD to not find a good handful of dumb mistakes and lacks of care... [go ahead, write down a mental list of what you see wrong with it, I can wait] and you want to know what they actually decided to point out? I think I'm just about ready to give up on my 365, I'm on somewhere like day 110 now and most of the time I just take a few random pictures on the way home on the gym as I'm either uninspired, lazy or don't have time.

If you can push through it and come up with ideas though, it would help greatly.
That's because taking a photo because of an idea is better than taking a photo for the sake of a.photo.

Should I do this or not?
