yeah, and I know I'm probably being a bit cynical but it's kind of disappointing to see something amazing like this winning an award- right next to ten pictures like this winning the same award- [editline]d[/editline] and this won an award for InfraRed photography, but I... whatever. I just reeeeeally hope the judges don't have chronic flickrista tastes

Thanks, I feel like gouging my eyes out now.
God damn iPad browsing is friggin brilliant. Dai you though about investing in one for your business down the line? Fantastic way to show off your photos, if not to get distracted easily.
God damn iPad browsing is friggin brilliant.
Sometimes it's very annoying. Especially trying to reply to long posts. At least for me.

I think I'm gonna give kite photography a go, I figured I can electrically trigger one of my (film) SLR's. Now I just need to construct some sort of rig to suspend it...

Would you guys be interested in doing one of those projects where you send around a disposable camera or a film camera of some type and only take one picture and then send it to the next person? I think we could get some really cool photos out of it, I wouldn't mind organizing it if you guys do want to it.
The problem is paying for shipping it. I'd be more than willing to do it if it only cost a few bucks out of pocket.
The problem is paying for shipping it. I'd be more than willing to do it if it only cost a few bucks out of pocket.
I don't think that it would cost to much to ship it form place to place, just a few dollars.
I don't think that it would cost to much to ship it form place to place, just a few dollars.
you would want to get the order organised, so that the camera goes from country to country, continent to continent in order. shipping from scandinavia to australia once would be pkay, but doing it to and fro 3 or 4 times is totally excessive.
aha that would be so much fun
Anyone who's interested in doing the photo project please just put a word in with your country that you live in right now below under this post. If we have enough interest I will start a thread for this little project. [editline]5th October 2011[/editline] Actually just use H4Z3Y's links and fill in your information.
This actually sounds like fun. I'm in, just gotta remember where I can ship stuff from on campus... Oh yea, USA.
I made a little google form (for this travelling camera project), you fill it out here: https://docs.google.com/a/haslehurst.net/spreadsheet/viewform?hl=en_US&formkey=dEZFODJaQklPU0JJN2tHMmRhMnFkTVE6MQ#gid=0 and the results are here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AhEA2EC5kknddEZFODJaQklPU0JJN2tHMmRhMnFkTVE&hl=en_US
If it goes between different countries it's likely to be scanned by xray which would probably ruin the film, as well as radiation at high altitudes in air transport. [editline]5th October 2011[/editline] I would be interested in one though (UK).

[editline]5th October 2011[/editline] I would be interested in one though (UK).
if the film is iso 100 it really should be fine, I've bought plenty of film from international retailers and it's been perfectly fire to use.
I would be willing to contribute my Halina 6-4 and put a roll of 120 b/w film in it, since I doubt more than 12 of us would enter a UK version. As long as someone one the end develops+scans it (I don't have a scanner).
for the US I'd say go by state, since each state is the same size size (if not bigger than) european countries. US, Illinois
US, Georgia Also, X-rays only ruin film higher than 400 iso, so it would be chill for overseas stuff.
US, Georgia Also, X-rays only ruin film higher than 400 iso, so it would be chill for overseas stuff.
but what about the exposure of multiple scans?

Guys lets do this. I'll supply Halina 6-4 (120 fixed shutter speed, 3 point aperture, group focusing camera) and colour iso 100 film for us UK guys (shipping to America would take too long and isn't worth it for 12 film exposures). Whoever is willing to commit to finishing the roll also has to be ready to develop+scan it. Each time we send it through the post add £1 per exposure(in a plastic bag or something) to pay for the developing costs of whoever is on the end, so that it can get developed at a good lab which won't rush it like Jessops etc.

Like Hazey said, we could create a route on a map to reduce shipping costs from country to country. I'd be willing to pay a sum to get it shipped.
You guys are free to do that for 35mm, but there isn't much point shipping a camera with 12exp around the world.
You guys are free to do that for 35mm, but there isn't much point shipping a camera with 12exp around the world.
True, so a disposable camera would be perfect for that since most of them are ~20-30 exposures. That's more than enough for this.
Most disposables are like 1600, they have tiny apertures. Anyway, I'd be willing to cover processing and scanning 100% out of my pocket. - Ohio, USA
lets all agree on no pictures of your butt [editline]5th October 2011[/editline] I know it will happen!

reminds me of something I saw on Kickstarter a while back, where they taped a disposable on a chain to a street light pole or whatever in a busy area with a note that just says "take a picture, visit [website]!", then they retrieved the camera and processed stuff, uploaded everything that wasn't teenagers giving the finger
