Can someone from Edinburgh recommend me some photographic locations within walking distance from Queen street gardens? I'm going there next week with my sister and his fiancé and our designated driver has broken his wrist and I'm too young to rent a car, even if I knew how to drive on the different side of the road. I'd also like to see some countryside too, but I'm content with tours so far.

I saw a female ruby-throated hummingbird land in a puddle of petrol tainted water at a gas station, it was literally such a photogenic image of the hummingbird being surrounded by the rainbow-coloured water and splashing in it.
I quickly tried to go for my camera, but ended up hitting my head against the wall.

Turns out it was a dream and I was twice the depressed. One for missing a perfect shot and two for it not existing.

Joined a photography course to learn basic composition , ended up learning that, how to operate (basically) a D-SLR, and even developing film/making contact sheets.
My teachers are pretty cool dudes.
Too bad cameras are like 50% more expensive here because of taxes.

happened to me recently too, where I had trouble catching a picture but finally got it just right, then I woke up but for a few seconds was still like "damn, it was a dream? at least I got the pict-FUCK"

If you're in the center of town, go to Holyrood Park, it's a 5 min bus ride or 15 minute walk, here's a photo I took in it.

Another good place, which is closer, is Carlton hill, which has great views of the city and random roman style monuments on it.

It really depend on how far you can walk from the middle of town, there's loads of great places. The very center of town is pretty shit as far as photos go.

Oh, and I almost forgot the castle, that's right in the center of town and looks pretty awesome.

I've just visited an exhibit of Jaakko Heikkilä. It's called "Silent Talks" and it was awesome and very inspiring, although I saw some technological mistakes he made.

But who cares for that in an awesome picture?

because it's designed for actual RAW files, not tiny jpgs opened as raw
