Woooh! A mate and I are going to restart the photography society at University (and gain access to the darkroom in the process). I didn't have anything to do with the old Photography society (which fell apart this summer) because it was called the 'Photography and Modelling Society'. While I understand the logic behind this, of putting photographers and models in contact with one another - it just attracted a bunch of dickheads (self proclaimed photographers and models alike). I went to a few meetings of theirs in my first year and everybody there were stuck-up bastards (much like the 'that guy' thread - including models). But now... Hopefully we can get something good going :D I'll keep you all posted :)
Good luck with it, and please share how it goes! I'd like to do the same. Currently nothing photography or art related, film society is just really popular films which I think is dumb. I would think a film society would look at alternative or great not well known films, not The Hangover 2.

My university doesn't have one, and I'd sure love to get one started. Our schools may have completely different systems for getting clubs started, but I'd like to know what you did.

They have a reception and we just went in and asked. Should have something similar near you.
I guess that's why I have trouble with editing.
Guess what guys? I just won a contest run by Jessops! I get a free limited edition t shirt and poster!
as a con photographer, I am thoroughly annoyed this guy abused his press badge to just make slights at people's weights. Surprised he didn't mug everyone for lunch money http://www.mensfitness.com/lifestyle/entertainment/ny-comic-con-flabby-versions-of-your-favorite-superheroes Shoddy reporting. Plus, the iron man costume was godly.
I'm going to the London International Technology Show tomorrow, any tips?

Noob question: What does a film scanner exactly do? Is it right to assume that I can just put my filmroll straight from the camera into the scanner, and I can get the pictures digitalized? Or do I still need to get my negatives first? What does a decent film scanner cost? I don't want anything very expensive as I am not at all looking for professional gear.

Dai, I don't know how well you know downtown Madison, but do you know of any places that are like old abandoned building or old ones in general that no one uses? I need some locations to film a short film I'm working on.

Could potentially go out there and find an empty parking garage or something, but there's too much police presence to be climbing in any windows.

Kinda cool to think you were that close to my house. Within walking distance actually. I tend to eat lunch there a lot when at school.
My eye sight is terrible how the fuck.
