After a month of fussing with the people of ibuysonline.com it seems my D7000 has finally shipped and should arrive in 4-6 days.
Problem is I get on ship to leave for mainland Japan in 3 hours. I'll be gone a month. Great timing, just great.

Quick Question: Are there any Nikon cameras that can shoot 720p at 60fps?

Argh!! I have a ton of Nikon lenses, I'm guessing they won't fit on a gh2?

If they can manually focus or change the aperture without power then you can use an adapter.
I've been chatting with some bloke on Flickr about flash triggers, answering his questions about my flash setup as he aims to get it as well. His messages have been in kinda bad broken English, and at the end of the final message he said:
ps.sorry because of my bed English
Such charm.
So today I went to a tag sale and the guy there had not one, not two, but nine Canon AE-1s. He told me they were all gifts from some rich friend to each of the members of his family. Some of them were brand new as he said some of his kids looked at it, got intimidated by it, and put it back in the box. Some of them were heavily used as he said he used his for bird watching. Sadly he wanted $100 a piece (with a 50mm f1.8) and that was way more than what I was willing to spend, so I had to leave them behind.
So today I was planning on taking photos....

the latest of the string of ~paid professional architectural photographers~ hired by the company I've been doing 3d projects for

to be fair the building is in new york so for once it wouldn't have cost less to send me out to get pictures... depending on how much they paid her, that is.
good news is, my dad and I are now the company's official go-to people. Before we had to 'bid' on projects to get them to take us on, but now we're considered full-time. Maybe they'll start sending me places or something.

Basically this. I'm really wanting to go outside and takes some pictures of the fall season, but I can't get away from the computer. 21 hours already just this weekend. It's ridiculous, and I have a presentation in French and a film paper due tomorrow.
i am busy transitioning my real life to skyrim
i make more of a difference in that world
So I was visiting my parents this weekend and had a lot of fun. Today we went on a walk and found 5 skulls. Pretty neat. They were sheep skulls or something from a nearby farm, and they were eaten by mountain lions I think. I got some pictures but they're pretty much just snapshots. I'll upload them anyway in a bit. Just thought I'd share.
How bad are timelapses for cameras?
Do they shorten the battery&camera life expectancy significantly?

If you want a 60 second time lapse with full res photos, you'll have to take 1500 photos for a 25fps video.
Most entry level DSLR's are warranted for 50 000 shutter releases, which means 33.3 time lapses will go over that.
So I'd say it does have an effect.
You could use video mode though, and speed it up later.

If you are using a Canon you should consider using ML.
It allows you to take smaller res photos (will still fit for the video afterwards) but your shutter count stays the same.

Aw man that kinda sucks :(
But then again taking 1000 pics in a row requently is bound to have a negative effect.
