New National Geographic just arrived in the mail. Yay.
Anyone think we ought to have a competition thread? Something like DRTV's competition show but in thread format

I'm pretty sure we had one but it didn't get enough attention to work.
Anyone done photo ops on certain themes? I've one to do on Identity, and I thought about doing a comparison between peoples avatars online (wow, second life etc) sat beside a photograph of them in person. Not easy to find subjects for that.

It's always the referencing which takes a long time. The trouble in choosing a Bachelor of Science degree :P

Friggin BRILLIANT FILM!
Yeah it really is. I've seen it too many times to count.
so it's my great grandpa's 90th birthday soon, I was put in charge to make a digital slideshow out of some of his old slides. apparently we had a bunch of them in our house, they were so cool to look at. what's the best way to digitize them, scanning? They're color positives, on like little individual sheets. i made a makeshift projector out of a flashlight and a huge prime lens, it was really cool to look at. i'll post them as i get them scanned, they are from the 60's.

If you're short on time you could outsource the scanning to a local lab that does a decent job or scan with your own scanner. Are they 35mm or medium format slides?
i believe they are 35mm slides. I have until january, so not short on time at all. my mom would just rather have me do it so they aren't lost or anything.
here's me projecting a slide

How many slides do you have to scan?
Here have an iPhone pic of me in the field at Camp Fuji.

I am back in Okinawa and tomorrow the mail room should be open so I can get my D7000, it's ridiculous how excited I am to get back into photography. I miss it so much.

Go to Lentils as anything.
http://www.lentilasanything.com/restaurants.html
It's a charity/restaurant that does vegetarian food. They have a few branches, but I've only been to the one in St. Kilda.
It's one of those places where they don't have a set price for anything. They feed you and rely on donations - so you pay what you think the meal is worth (plus the fact that any profits they make go into community housing projects etc. in the area). If you're around St. Kilda, drop by for lunch. It's good.
I think I should post in this subforum moe, I do do some film photography alright, with an Olympus OM-10. Should start getting more shots worth showing...

I felt ill googling lucky star junk
Lucky star was a pretty cool slice of life.

yeah, I don't mind the show but the sheer wall of pink and terrible fan art really makes me consider avoiding it at all costs.
and this is coming from someone who doesn't mind MLP.
lucky star is one of those examples I have to bring up when people talk about hentai and try debating legality based on age and junk. You can go right on ahead and say everyone in lucky star are 18 years old or whatever they are, but they have the bodies of 12 year olds and if someone doesn't know the show then it's pretty obvious what conclusions they'd jump to in regards to it. In opposition, Asuka from Evangelion is 14 and looks legal enough to an uneducated party.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Moe, man. It's a crazy thing. Lucky Star's fan base is also crazy. But hey, some people just love 12 year olds.
On a side note.
Mmmm. Evangelion. My favourite. <3

Well, 12 year old bodies.

I just got my big order of films that I ordered from eBay. Turns out they're all 120, not 35mm. Worst rookie mistake ever..
Do you think he'll take them back? What is US policy on these things?
