Okay. I don't need a new monitor which means I have more money for a lens. I need some suggestions.
My first idea is to go with a 50mm. My question with that is if the f1.4 is worth the extra $230ish? ( http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/12140-USA/Canon_2515A003_50mm_f_1_4_USM_Autofocus.html )
I will take many pictures with it, but mainly use it for video. Which means I'll usually have some sort of lights but I also do a lot of low light shooting (for the cool look)
If not the 50mm, then what?
Just used a D7000 for the first time today. I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT IT NOW!
Seriously, I just told myself it wasn't even a big deal, BUT HOLY SHIT IT IS SUCH A BIG DEAL! Seriously I love that machine. Gonna probably wait for the D800 though. Need to acrue 3 grand though. Alongside the money for upgrading my computer, paying for my trip to Paris, and finally buying a Mazda Miata.
Gonna be a long wait I think.
I'd like a new camera. But I hardly use mine right now as it is. I'd be wasting money.
The Miata is such a puny car, though. If you crashed in that thing I'd be worried, man.

But it's cheap, RWD, and it's not hard to find one that's manual.

sigma 30mm 1.4, you'll find the perspective a lot less restrictive for video
Dai posted this already but..

not the same lens, but it's a 220 degree angle too.
you can buy it for 2.220 dollars.
but hurry because there are only 220 lenses available
:v:
I doubt they had that many made
even so it is good for 360 degree view photography (very common with architects and realtors), less photos to process.

There was a really great example on youtube, of the camera moving along the tunnels of a large particle accelerator.
My other Grandmother passed away today :(

Sorry to hear that mate. It's something that most of us will all have to go through at some point.

my grandfather passed away earlier this year during an already stressful time. I remember the last time I saw him, I was wearing my irish cap and he commented "why are you wearing that silly hat" with a grin. He always wore these and seemed happy to see me doing the same.

Bit out of my budget.
What about a Canon EF 35 mm f/2.0?
Or would I be better off with a 50mm?
50mm will give you more DoF, but the perspective will be much more tight. 35mm is a bit easier to work with
Got 2 more free lens today. A Canon 28-80mm, which from what I can tell is pretty much the exact same as the 35-80mm I got yesterday. Also got a Nikkor 75-240mm which I can't use on my 60d but I can throw on my nikon 35mm.
i know the 35-80 is an early AF film lens, sucks that it doesn't have manual focus though. 28-80 is probably the same thing with slightly more wide. also that nikkor might be decent, where did you get these?

My 35-80 has manual focus? I'm getting these from my photo class. They have a big box with tons of old lens in it. I asked the teacher about them and she said help yourself, we don't need them. But I don't know what kind of mounts most of the lens are. All the old lens seem that they were so much better made then these plastic ones today. I have a bunch of other lens and stuff I got, but I can't really do anything with them so I think I'll sell them on ebay.
Is there by any chance a adapter of some sort to put that Nikon lens on my 60d?
hmm that's odd, my friend's 35-80 doesn't have manual focus on it. i think it might be a 35-70 though. and you COULD adapt the nikon because it has more flange distance than the EF mount, but it would probably still have a glass element in it and degrade quality a bit.
How do I know what mount this Tamron IF 28-200 3.8-5.6 Aspherical would be? Would it be worth taking home just to sell it?
take a picture of the back and i'll try and figure it out
but tamron used to be called promaster in the 90's (IIRC), and so the lens would be mildly newer than that, so it is either Pentax, Alpha, Nikon, or Canon. if you take a picture of the back though I can probably figure it out for you.
Anyone think that the GO PRO HD HERO2 is worth the ~$60 extra, from the HD HERO?
My other Grandmother passed away today :(
I remeber when my mum found out that my grandma (her mother) had passed, first time I saw one of my parents cry.
From what I've seen on youtube, the optics are at least $60 better.
Get it if you need the extra lens quality, if you like looking at your videos in glorious ten eighty pea.
I have been having a go at making a basic website for my cameras and pictures and some other things.
