okay guys, so I have a 550d and a tripod. When I have said 550d on the tripod and I pick the tripod up and move it with the camera switched on, then put the tripod down on the ground again, 9/10 times the camera will turn off. It turns off, and if in live view the mirror remains locked up. The only way of turning it back on again is by switching the power switch off, removing the battery and reinserting the battery. After putting it back in, the mirror returns to its normal position (even with the power off). It then works fine until it gets bumped again. Same happens if I bump it while off the tripod. Anyone had similar problems/heard of it before?
just threw a 1D Mark IV at a wall, didn't exhibit this problem.
Threw a Pentax K-5 into a volcano, didn't exhibit this problem either.
Threw a Pentax K-5 into a volcano, didn't exhibit this problem either.
ripped it

It's eyjafjallajökull
Came off my bike going down a wet grassy hill at about 20/25mph, and slid over gravel. I now have an insane amount of scratches all over me, I think Bengley took a photo right after. Here's it (doesn't show the crap on my hands or the scratches on the other side of my arm) cleaned up:
Silly billy jo, volcanoes can't talk
just won a Zenit TTL on ebay. been wanting a cheap film slr for quite a while now.
Zenit bros. I have a Zenit 11.
Brofist, yeah I hope this one works fully, the guy in the auction said everything "seems" to work then again, it was like 15 quid (also it's a zenit)
Zenits are indestructible :v:
From my media class, I'm propably the guy who like photography the least. And I've got to do 2 photo projects with 10 good picture per each. And I have got no good ideas to shoot. It's like they are expecting creativity to poop out ideas by snapping your fingers. Maybe I'll just takes some really crappy photos and just be like; it's deep art :smug: by the joke would be the irony. The irony of me hating those photographers who take crappy photos that try too hard to be artistic.

No I didn't sneeze and spill paint on the canvas every stroke of splatter represents my hatred of the form, of having to adhere to the rituals and expectations of everybody else and yet still call art an expression of my own free will, it is a PERFORMANCE PIECE, AN UN ENDING FOUNTAIN OF MY EMOTIONS PLASTERED TO A CANVAS IN WHICH REPRESENTS THE INFINITESIMAL SIZE OF THE BOX THAT REPRESENTS ME TO THE OUTSIDE WORLD AND ULTIMATELY WILL END UP AT THE END OF MY LIFE JUST LIKE ANYONE ELSE ON THIS GOD FORSAKEN ROCK at that point, it is art again, because there is creativity presented in a different form. Problem is, you have to explain the art, and I simply don't think there is art if you have to explain it yourself.
look at these badass mofos IMG_9322 by Gotnoodles, on Flickr The largest one my dog was growling at, when I bent down to cup it the smaller one jumped out at me. Probably female and a male, not sure but meh :V.

What happened there? Also, what do you guys do to pass the time when you have no photo gear (the powershot I was using is my friend's and he's going to sell it soon), and you're about 2 months from having enough money to buy the camera you have your eyes on?
disposable cameras + imagination. it'll be good training for your eye to work composition, even if you only go through a roll every other week or longer.
Or just buy an old SLR with a standard 50mm 1.8 You can buy them very cheap.
Oh hey, I still have my Nikon F with a 35mm f/2 lens and a Tokina 135mm f/3.5 Somehow I had forgotten about it. It has some redscale film in it right now.
Just saw someone buy a disposable digital camera :O
Sweet. If it's cheap I bet they can be hacked to make it a fully fledged digital camera :v:
