Hold out just a few more hundred for a 35 1.4G

NOT FOR DX. On DX, the 35mm f/1.8 G DX does the same thing for one-tenth the price, with a lot less weight and a better filter size. Neither of these G lenses work on manual-focus film cameras. For them, use the Nikon 35mm f/1.4 AI-s instead. For rich people, this lens works swell on DX, but no better than the 35/1.8 DX does.
My D5000 Is a DX.
fuck ken rockwell
Anyone not doing the steam winter thing and want to give me their coal lol
Can someone explain in short why cameras such as the Leica M9 is so insanely expensive?
I mean it costs €5695 that is more than 5 times the price of my D7000.
What makes them so special?

The digital ones: not much other than the name, although a full frame sensor in a tiny body is convenient.
The film ones: incredible mechanical quality and toughness, a lot of Leicas that have seen war zones and are 50 years old still work without any problems.

Just lost my SD card full of Christmas photos. Pretty pissed.
Oh, lord, just got one of my photos off my GoPro.
In the Shot, there's Santa Snowboarding, Wearing nothing but a thong and his hat.
:suicide:
Not entirely sure if I want another 50 1.8D, wondering what else I could use a £100 Amazon voucher on for photography related gear. Got a standard 2.8 zoom, Tokina 11-16 2.8 is much cheaper on other sites and have a flashgun that I hardly ever use already. Any suggestions?
100 UV filters.
100 UV filters.
UV mountain coming to a town near you.
They will blot out the UV of the sun.
UV filters are nice when they get sunlight on them and do weird things to the exposure of the image. I have a nice one on my 55mm lens, and i absolutely love the effect it produces.
Violets in teh sky.
I guess I should probably buy a filter for both lenses, and since I'll be doing some landscapes a GND filter will be called upon to strike down upon dat landscape. Didn't think about filters, cheers for the suggestion.
HOYAAA

look in the sections of the photos where colors are a bit more inconsistent, and blacks being dulled without having the lights super over exposed. it just causes color inconsistencies that i absolutely love.
[editline]26th December 2011[/editline]
only one of those are PP, and that was just cropping the image. mostly it does that little upping the black trick straight out of the camera.
I can certainly see what you mean, and agree its a nice effect. Does this happen with all UV filters?

£107 off, damn son.
most of them i believe it does. i have only observed it with my targus HD UV filter like this (came with a camera bag), and my other hoya filter is only 49mm so it just fits my 16mm lens. But i use a polarizer in favor of that, if i get a sony alpha to e mount i can try my minolta 50mm with it, i think the cheaper the filter is the more light it reflects
Is there any difference between, say, a £10 filter and a £100 filter? I mean technically, how it's manufactured.

less reflections, smaller profile, more durable, easier to clean surface, more transparent allowing for full function of the lens
stuff like that. just better quality glass.
Don't forget about coating!
As some people over here like to say, if you are using a 500$ lens why skimp out on the glass that goes in front of it?
