finally the local camera store opened again so I could get a uv filter and not feel scared whenever I use my new lens
Went to Best Buy last night and ordered a Sony Cybershot dsc-w570. They were going to charge me full price ($160) for it but I told them it said $109 online. The clerk verified it and did a price match after trying to get me to pay $23 for a 1 year warranty and another $15-ish for an SD card.
After taxes, I spent $115. I feel like I got a pretty good deal.
I am getting sick and tired of hearing these christmas stories where people didn't get their (hugely expensive) presents but 'only' got slightly less expensive presents.
I never get anything for Christmas and that's fine with me. But it seems like people keep wanting for bigger and more expensive presents every year.

Did some looking around and found this photo taken of my late grandfather working in a coffee shop just after World War II. After doing some digging I also found that he wrote a song for that particular coffee shop that is framed in the shop today. Dang!

He was a very interesting man. Born in Poland into a Jewish family in a year I can't remember, moved to University St in the Bronx, NY as a young child, separated from the Jewish community and became an Athiest. Moved to Australia some time later, tried several times to become a doctor (he was a medical student at the time of these photos being taken), failed and became a psychologist, met my grandmother, went back to NY to get a motherfucking massive diamond from his Jewish cousins (yes the stereotype does exist :v:) to propose to my grandmother. Always did magic tricks for me as a kid, told very weird stories and you could tell he was a duck person (calm on top of the water, but legs racing underneath). Died two years ago from lung cancer with his family by his side, he was a heavy smoker for most of his life.
I can buy a 10-20mm, some fire alarm stuff for £50 or a medium format camera

I don't know how much of a difference a 0.1x magnification difference makes at 10mm.

looks pretty snazzy
only thing that bothers me is the price, I spent $30 (~£19.41) on my [url=http://img155.imageshack.us/img155/9247/screenshot2011122817183.png]Diacord L[/url], which honestly looks to have the same metering and friction-coupled shutter/aperture system. I don't want you to get robbed on the price, so look around. (granted, I bought mine with the shop owner under the impression it was broken, but that was just a case of needing a little lighter fluid in the right places)
The one thing I do like is that the mat 124G has a fancy advance crank and some smoother aesthetics. I hear its focusing screen is a little hazy from one or two places, but that could just be a result of aging/poor storage.

don't buy one, unless you can get it super cheap.
My bin is full of film, two medium format rolls is a lot to bin after I messed up loading it into the camera. I should have looked at a how to on Youtube to start with but at least the third loaded fine. Focusing with a scratched up viewfinder on medium format is hell.

500px would not suffice? it looks very clean. Would you not have to send them the files or printed photographs instead of just a link?
Im staying at a moated castle in Birmingham, and its got some nice scenery here. Going to (hopefully) get up tomorrow morning and take some photos, would be silly not to.

6am DO IT. Today I managed to get up at 11am. Doesn't sound great but with barely 4 hours sleep and waking 4pm the two days previous, it just feels shit to miss most of the day even if the sleep was damn good.
