I think maybe I should start texting her earlier in the day so we can actually set up a time to hang out instead of her already doing something. [editline]3rd November 2012[/editline] Doesn't help that she goes out to bars and she knows that I don't drink or else we probably could have hung out tonight.
Some fuckhead is suspiciously sweet talking to my girlfriend while she's at a camp for two weeks. If he tries something stupid, then i wont hesitate to drive on out there and intervene myself.
Probably going to wait at least a couple days before texting her again and see if she texts me first too.
So today I bought some original WW2 web gear/surplus that was used on screen during Saving Private Ryan, in particular, the beach scene. so the SPR guys bought literally truckloads of helmets, web gear, uniforms, boots, etc. They thrashed them all during the beach scene, and were mostly gentle during the rest of the movie, spare the mud scenes and the really hectic scenes. After the movie people were done wrecking the gear, they dumped everything into dumpsters behind their sets, left to rot and rust. After they sat around long enough, a friend of mine bought 1/3rd of the entire prop collection. The stuff I bought has rust, corrosion, and sand on it, but I love that it was used on-screen in Saving Private Ryan. I bought a haversack, some HBT pants, these weird goggles that help gunners see/lead their tracers better (just like sunglasses with red lenses p. much, kind of like the kind that Jamie Hyneman wears), a mess kit, a mess kit pouch, a pistol belt, and on the way home I stopped by the surplus store and bought a M1 carbine pouch with 2 mags in it for 10 bucks (I don't even own a carbine but it was too cool to turn down :v:
Can you still buy more things if you wanted to? I might actually be interested in having some used/weathered stuff

She's totally giving me excuses. She told me she was going out but she's on Facebook. Seems legit.
She's totally giving me excuses. She told me she was going out but she's on Facebook. Seems legit.
you do realize that you can go on facebook with your phone right?
apparently it takes her like two hours to get ready. again, seems legit
apparently it takes her like two hours to get ready. again, seems legit
Christ, shut up man. Stop overthinking every little thing and then posting about it here. She wouldn't talk to you if she didn't have an interest in at least being your friend.
On a different note, we set a tickle me elmo on fire today and I took a video of it but apparently I'm not allowed to post it anywhere until monday. [editline]3rd November 2012[/editline]
Christ, shut up man. Stop overthinking every little thing and then posting about it here. She wouldn't talk to you if she didn't have an interest in at least being your friend.
And she did say she wanted to hang out with me some time. So she's probably not giving excuses.

God damnit 08th MS Team is literally the best gundam ever created. There are so many reasons why. If you never watched it, watch it. It's basically like the Generation Kill of the Gundam universe. Regular pilots, not super special genetically altered teenager with SUPER ANGST piloting an ultra secret giant robot made of GUNDAMIAN ALLOY and flying at the edge of the sound barrier, absorbing and eating lasers like candy. Like, there were emotions, the characters felt fear and it reflected in their combat performance. The entire way the suits were set up made them believable. The fact that an MS Team was three suits and a fucking SUPPORT TRUCK. I mean, in a Gundam show the idea that MS's are not unstoppable self-sustaining killing machines was never an option. But they use a god damn hover tank to supplement their communications, navigation and so on. The suits have severe limitation. Mobility is one of them. They're costly to run, taking relatively short missions before having to be refit. For the times when they need to be in the field longer they're fitting with giant shipping containers on their back to hold spare guns, extra ammo, fuel and so on. Their beam sabers only last 1 minute once deployed from their charging holster because of how hot plasma has to burn. The gundams take some serious damage from the environment alone. They spend two days repairing and cleaning out their suits because sand got into some of the components during a mission in a desert, which is absolutely believable. When the suits get damaged they're repaired with parts from other suits meaning they have to mix and match all the time, just like most real armies have to do. They use specialized mission-specific equipment. Bazookas, Cannons, Missiles Launchers and Parachute packs. In one episode fucking rebel fighters are able to take one down with RPG's and grenade launchers. To add it all up it didn't have that disgustingly inaccurate art style like the original Gundam and it was actually a beautiful series. The fighting scenes are some of the best I ever saw. It felt tense when they were fighting in the city, suits hiding right behind some of the taller buildings, or held-up inside of hallowed out warehouses and what not, fighting was fast and desperate and didn't last too long. And to add that all together MS's aren't even the bulk of their army. It still relies heavily on Aircraft, tank and infantry.
like half of what you wrote is why mechs will never be viable combat machines. Still sounds good though
Well, in this universe they're pretty good weapons but obviously not super weapons. The idea is that they're able to traverse certain terrain better than vehicles are because of their size they can carry a large array of big guns to take down strong-holds and other MS's. They're great anti-tank weapons and even better anti-personal weapons. I mean do you know how BIG their 'Small arms' are? The standard armament for Federation mobile suit ground forces, the Type 37 is an open-bolt, gas-operated, magazine-fed, mobile suit handheld machine gun. It fires a 100x450 millimeter round at a rate of 500 rounds per minute and is loaded with a 20-round box magazine.
I always wanted to watch Gundam as a kid, but never had a way to. I'll watch that sometime.
I always preferred 00 :(
Gundam Wing was good too, but only if you really loved politics because like 80% of an episode was politics and boring words. I also liked SEED's universe alot.
