SKS or Enfield? I want a new gun and these seem to be my most likely choices right now. However if I somehow stumble upon $500 I'll go for a 7.62x54R Vepr right away.

I own both, and the SKS with a 30 round mag if your state allows it is much more practical and fun. 7.62x39 ammo is much less expensive if you buy in bulk, or even Wolf ammo isn't that bad. .303 ammo on the other hand is pretty expensive and as far as I'm concerned is a little too hard to find for it to be a daily shooter.

No.4 Mk1 was what I was going to get if I got an Enfield.
What do M1 Carbines usually run for? If they aren't too expensive might go for that instead.
