I'm tempted to believe it's more the pretentious part that hurts. I don't want to take a bunch of metalheads ("omg lifesucks :(((") seriously on any level, especially when I get to see what the metal band looks like themselves in 99% of videos on youtube.

It just feels like metal songs are depressing about things I don't care about.
