A little of both :)
Wat. It's was only you you mom/dad and you're saying you had fun watching women sunbath? (aka your mom)
Next time. Take me with you.
Surprised this hasn't been posted
I believe this song is better for the thread
You should link some more pics from your blog, I just found it and some are pretty cool. There's even a picture (your dad probably made) of some boobies! I love these birds, they look so damn hilarious. Where exactly did you encounter them?
What was the most dangerous thing that you experienced on the trip?
I just learned something from your brother OP:
I thought I was a vagina at first. I need to stop watching porn in fast threads.
My parents bought a boat at Mallorca and we had to sail/motor it all the way back up to Germany. It was not quite your adventure but it was an adventure too. Took 6 weeks and we drove through the land. [editline]12th June 2011[/editline] Also for anyone planning this: You need special sailing licenses for in-land sailing(dunno what is the real english name) first and close-to-land-sea sailing and high-sea sailing. They are all pretty damn expensive and equire an insane amount of learning. At least the in-land one did for me. Alll those knots oh my god. And you need a special radio license too.
Did you see any young boys float by with a tiger in their lifeboat?
Count me in for the FP trans-pacific sea adventure, I can cook, and umm provide witty humor?
Count me in for the FP trans-pacific sea adventure, I can cook, and umm provide witty humor?
On the topic of this,(if I'm accepted) i'll provide the crew with enough technologically advanced equipment to last 4 lifetimes. Oh, and the booze.
I'll provide the chips and pop [editline]12th June 2011[/editline] And we need a large fp flag guys.
Do you have this "swing feel" when you go on land after a long time on a sailboat?
Can you post a picture of the boat?
I decided to stop being lazy and get a picture off my dad's computer. Here it is: Our boat at anchor. The things sticking out from the back are solar panels. [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/F4BRp.jpg[/img_thumb] Looking back from the deck, underway. [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/wrncR.jpg[/img_thumb] [editline]12th June 2011[/editline]
Did you see any dolphins?
Yes, literally hundreds at a time.
Did you have to resort to eating other people when the refrigeration went out?
Hah, no, but we had to put all the meat in one huge chili pot, which lasted for a week.
If you ever have kids, would you take them on a similar trip across the Pacific?
Yes, definitely. It's an amazing experience for me, I would want to share it with them.
Also, what were some of the chores you had to do when you are sailing?
I did 3 hour shifts from 9am-12pm and 9pm-12am. Adjusting sails, adjusting course, helping with misc things, keeping the battery bank charged.
did you see any sharks?
Not in the open ocean, but in the islands, yes, tons of black tipped reef sharks. As a matter of fact, I'm going scuba diving to see a ton of sharks in an hour or so.
Wat. It's was only you you mom/dad and you're saying you had fun watching women sunbath?
Oh god no  Boobies are plentiful in these islands. (Not referring to the birds)
You should link some more pics from your blog, I just found it and some are pretty cool. There's even a picture (your dad probably made) of some boobies! I love these birds, they look so damn hilarious. Where exactly did you encounter them?
They do look funny :v: We saw them only in Mexico, I haven't seen one in the south pacific yet.
What was the most dangerous thing that you experienced on the trip?
We almost ruined our sails when we ran into a surprise squall, about 2 weeks into the trip. The wind went from 11mp/h to about 46mp/h in less than 5 minutes.
Do you have this "swing feel" when you go on land after a long time on a sailboat?
Yes. Sailors call it land sickness. It feels like the ground is rocking. It's a really strange feeling. [editline]12th June 2011[/editline]
Oh, and the booze.
Regarding the subject, we stocked up on 3 shopping carts full of wine/rum before we left. (We're hiding it in fuel cans from the customs dudes)
I love you OP, have heart!
Silly fellow Facepunchers, we shouldn't travel by sailboat, we have our own space program! Obviously we have to build our own submarine :v:
I think if we were going to have a FP ship it would have to be rather large. Big enough so we can keep the undesirables below deck. Something like an old oil tanker from Water World would work. Keep the Oify down in the reserves.
Lolhwæt?
Thats a sweet boat. I'm jelly.
Travel through Atlantic ocean next time.

http://www.sailboatlistings.com/view/23450 Called it, nobody had better buy this one Question: What is your average power drain from all of your electronic devices (Water maker, Laptop, lights, etc) EDIT: Holy fuck, 300 grand? nevermind! Its a way nice boat though EDIT again: I was looking for way expensive yachts and ran into these pages http://www.milliondollarblog.org/million-dollar-yachts.htm http://www.milliondollarblog.org/yachts-kids.htm and this is what I call the "Guilt Blog" if you click links long enough, you WILL end up somewhere where they try to persuade you into philanthropy by guilt http://www.milliondollarblog.org/ [/guilt-trip]
I found somebody who can teach me how to sail. I was out riding near the lake today when I noticed a bunch of sailboats gathering near the other side. I road out, turns out there's a small sailing club that meets every Sunday and Wednesday. I started talking to some folks, and somebody said he'd show me the ropes if I came out next Wednesday. This is pretty radical. [editline]12th June 2011[/editline] Whoops, accidentally clicked 'Close Thread.' My bad.
I'd really like to build my own boat and sail it across the pacific to South America.
Ontopic: I've also considered doing this, i've actually sailed with this baby right here; We only sailed a short trip through the kattegat straits, but the waves really kicked up at one point; sitting right at the front of the boat while it heaved was the most amazing feeling.

did you see osama?
How does crossing into other countries work in a boat? Lets say I wanted to sail from Canada to somewhere is South America, probably stopping off somewhere in the US for supplies or whatever. What would I need to do so I wouldn't get shot at or some shit.

Figured as much, winter in the more Northern part of North America really sucks. So i'm considering if I can get the money and knowledge together to sail down to South America during the winter and just visiting various places. A friend of mine won't shut up about going somewheres for the winter and I think an adventure on the high seas is just the ticket.
ooh can i come along i went in a motorboat with my daddy a few times my daddy even let me sit on his lap and drive it one time i think i would be a good sailor
http://www.sailboatlistings.com/view/23450 Called it, nobody had better buy this one Question: What is your average power drain from all of your electronic devices (Water maker, Laptop, lights, etc) EDIT: Holy fuck, 300 grand? nevermind! For one of the million dollar yachts, a million Bibles can reach it and 5 million souls saved. The number rises to 50 million souls for a 10 million dollar yacht; for the half-billion dollar Gigayacht, 500 million Bibles can reach the lost and 2.5 billion souls - 40% of the earth's population - saved! As mentioned earlier, a yacht is by definition a boat of pleasure. Will God, in whom you believe, be pleased with you spending His money on a (multi-) million dollar pleasure toy while millions of Christians around the world are without Bibles? If you truly can't do without a yacht, why not pick a small yacht and invest the rest in eternity?
damnit why are we thinking about buying a fp boat we should be buying bibles for poor people
