I'm banned for some reason?
I hate this country. Somebody tell me, is Switzerland still a "heaven-on-earth" kind of place?

SOPA is borderless. Going to another country will not save you from it.

Hey now, no flaming. This thread is about SOPA discussion. Also why is it borderless? If it was borderless it would be debated by the UN rather than the US, wouldn';t it?

I am slightly confused as to how you can be directly affected by a law in another country, by that law itself (not the side effects)

Unless amazon, google etc move all their servers to europe.
Old people making decision on something they barely use and understand nothing about. Yay politics.
So they can block DNS(s?) now?
But hey none of us will bear the suffering of piracy now.

They are giving corporations the power instead of a judicial system power through this law. They dont care about borders. They will throw all their weight behind the bill to get whatever they want to shut things down. It is up to the companies that are being threatened by it in another country to say no fuck you go away. Most of them will just do it because they dont want to put up a fight. This is going on its just another weapon added to their arsenal.

This is talking about the mockup of the bill.
enity
The fact that they put the decision in the hands of mostly people who rarely have the use for the internet is bull shit.

And don't even understand the internet.

That's why the only ones speaking sense are the ones asking for non-biased experts.
What the hell are they voting on?
are nos good or bad right now?

WHAT'S GOING ON?
I hate this country. Somebody tell me, is Switzerland still a "heaven-on-earth" kind of place?
We're fine actually, but this shit will affect other countries as well.
Our gouverment just rejected a change of the copyright change, which here is a good thing.
Oh, they're voting on Amendments to the bill. Alright.
Did they just vote against a safegaurd so people can't abuse SOPAs powers? meaning that now they could abuse powers?
Soooo, did we win or not? From what I can see from the last couple of posts, there were 20 Nos and 15 Ayes. I would assume that No would be good in our situation, but yet everyone is freaking out about it. What the flying fuck is going on?

You know how they are. They make nos sound good but they aren't.

They're saying no the the amendments to SOPA that make it less evil, thus keeping it shit.
5 million DMCA takedown notices to google to have things removed from the search results this year.
75 percent removed within 6 hours
Bill says that this is not good enough.
I am sorry, what.
