of course it affects people outside the USA. If say for example, youtube, an american based site, got taken down by this bill, just because your in Canada doesnt mean you'll still be able to access youtube somehow.
I believe it is simple filtering, and not actually taking down the website.
Fuck, the decision of the bill won't happen tonight.
FUUUU

Thinking too small. USA is a very powerful influence on a global scale, lots of politicians will back up their own censorship plans with "But the USA did it and the USA are big and strong and powerful and we want to be as awesome as them!!"
Maybe sounds funny from an American perspective, but over here in Europe the decisions made in the US have quite a bit of impact on politics, especially in EU conferences.
The German Pirate Party narrowly avoided a similar censorship law some years ago. It's "defused" now, but I bet that will rapidly changed if SOPA passes.
Welp, that means I'm done then. I was on the edge of my seat, but I guess I will just wait until I see the verdict in the news.
Lofgren: "It's 41 on the register, Lofgren number 56"
Chairman: "Okay, Lofgren number 63"
...
Lofgren: "No, 56"
Chairman: "Pardon me, 66"
Well, if this does pass and Obama doesn't veto it, couldn't such services just move out of the US? I can only imagine that it would be in the interest of several big companies, Google being one.
I asked myself the same question. It would work, but only for people living outside of the US. Inside the US, the companies would still have to apply to these laws.
Either the companies like google take the biggest stick anyone ever had up their ass or the US becomes an online desert.

It may possibly restructure the entire internet that's for sure.
Some one said that (I think it was Mr. Issa), that what this bill is going to do is harm to US based sites.
I mean if, as an example, Google/Bing/Yahoo is censored to abide to this law then most people outside of the US will just use search engines from outside the US, same for sites like Facebook, Youtube and Twitter.
In the end, who loses are US based internet companies because their competitivity is dampered against non-US alternatives.

Hell no, we'll never let this shit happen.

Surely we can find a way around it. It always happens.
I can't imagine the huge corporations that oppose this bill will let this go without a massive fight.
I love how people aren't even a thing anymore in politics.
Now it's corporation vs corporation.
Poor Ms Jackson, got shut up for no reason. Fuck the chairman.

That was one of Lofgren's point, use a proxy or enter in the IP address and you can bypass it.
Nobody shuts up The Wall.
Dat sass
Why is this even being considered when so much of the American population is against it?
Are our Congressmen really that corrupt? Do they consider a corporation more of a person than an actual person?
I don't understand how things managed to get this fucked up. Why haven't we done anything?
