Just made a facebook post, no one on it is aware it could be the Internets final hours.
congrats man
Just made a facebook post, no one on it is aware it could be the Internets final hours.
I doubt they have a single "SHUT DOWN EVERYTHING" button they'll simply press after the session tomorrow.
oh and anonymous will do the same thing they did with the Zetas: "oh we don't want to hurt anyone, we give up"
To be fair, the Zetas are criminals with absolutely no regard for the law. They can slaughter whoever they want whenever they want, so I can understand Anon backing down when they threatened that. The U.S. government can't exactly murder lots of people out in the open without major international backlash from nearly every country in the world.
I hope the US doesn't end up like china...
So what happens to my linux distros?
keep in mind most of them are half-retarded 15 year olds who can't do shit and you need to get out of the basement before you can protest. I don't see that happening with 4chan kids
What are these people going to do with their lives when their only use of their pitiful lives is taken? They may not actively protest, but could get a bit suicidal and violent. Besides, the amount of adults on that site, however small, can do quite a bit simply by using the rest of 4chan as pawns to send out mass emails, do minuscule amounts of 'hacking', and generally control them like one would control a botnet. [editline]15th December 2011[/editline]
I doubt they have a single "SHUT DOWN EVERYTHING" button they'll simply press after the session tomorrow.
Speaking of that, how long do you think we will have between the time the law is passed and the big red "SHUT DOWN EVERYTHING" button is pressed?
For some reason all this stuff about SOPA and NDAA brought this to mind:
Just made a facebook post, no one on it is aware it could be the Internets final hours.
Aw man, you should be the head of the revolution.
You should be the head of the revolution.
Speaking of that, our side really needs a sort of charismatic singular person to be the "lead" of the opposition to this bill. Right now, we have a bunch of technology-illiterate old people in a room.
i'm getting a "subscription failed: hoc_input" error on the livestream is there a fix for this?
I'm too lazy to read, someone update me on whats currently happening.
i'm getting a "subscription failed: hoc_input" error on the livestream is there a fix for this?

I'm to lazy to read, someone update me on whats currently happening.
It's ended for the night, will continue 10 AM tomorrow.
I'm to lazy to read, someone update me on whats currently happening.
Congress sat around and said "No" at some amendments, except for Mr Polis, who said "AYE", and then they agreed to say no some more at 10 AM Pacific Time tomorrow.
What timezone?
pacific.
What timezone?
Pacific Standard Time. 1 PM Eastern Standard Time.
i know the NDAA bill has the right to detain people, which people is this , is it US citizens living in america or anyone? and i assume its only people in america who can be detained unless they want WW3
I doubt they have a single "SHUT DOWN EVERYTHING" button they'll simply press after the session tomorrow.
Like I said, if this were to pass, it would take a very long time for it to affect anything, and most of the changes would go unnoticed by 99% of internet users. No one is shutting down Youtube or Facebook. It's actually hilarious how hysterical you guys have gotten in this thread. Just close the stream, step away from the computer, and think rationally for a second.

It's a clear violation of freedom of speech on the internet made by those who have no fucking clue how the internet works as a whole, and most likely just being paid by the entertainment industry to pass this bill. This also raises the question of corruption in congress, as there is literally NO RATIONAL way this was thought up, planned and being passed without the influence of the entertainment industry. If the entertainment industry has brought up this bill, they will push and enforce this bill to the maximum way possible. I guarantee you. Also what's really fucking annoying is that people have no interest in listening to the opposition of this bill who are raising amazing and logical points, as loss of jobs, impact on economy, and my praise goes to especially Lofgren and Chaffetz who are clearly passionate about this opposition and the consequence this bill will have on freedom online but the fact of the matter is they are obviously being ignored by retarded congress.

On bigger sites im pretty sure individual users get punished or fined or sued or whatever. Its the smaller, cooler sites that get fucked. Still a reason to panic though...
Its the smaller, cooler sites that get fucked.
e.g. Facepunch. One major reason a lot of people, including me, are angry with this.

It's a big deal.

Saying this is the end of the internet and that sites like Facepunch will be brought down is lunacy. In the end, if this does pass, it'll be another annoying bill that people disagree with but ultimately ends up affecting almost no one.
In the end, if this does pass, it'll be another annoying bill that people disagree with but ultimately ends up affecting almost no one.
I wouldn't say it would be something that ends up affecting no one, but it has the possibility to be something that we fret over. It's the amount of wiggle room it allows the government to shut down websites, and the framework they will set up for it that scares me.

Don't think that if this passes, the government will just start shutting down sites left and right with no opposition.
Pacific Standard Time. 7 AM Eastern Standard Time.
Pacific is ... 3 hours behind eastern time. So, if its 1000 Pfc, its 1300 Est. (1pm.)
Sorry, for being late, but I hope this goes well...
its a big problem for the future, a lot of things that are clearly objected too are brought back in a watered down version that no one pays attention too and is slowly escalated.

I may be misinformed by the functions of the entire bill, but if I am to understand this bill, corporations owning the copyright property can go directly to the marketing and ad revenue sites as Google Adsense, etc. A lot of websites rely on this ad income to maintain their site, and also history has proven the entertainment industry will do as much as in their power will let them to remove and attempt to cut any act of copyright infringement (The baby video being a fine example to the lengths corporations will go to remove copyright infringement.), and as such, this bill will affect a lot more people, than say DMCA.
