yes. [editline]16th December 2011[/editline] AND ITS STILL FUCKING THERE
What am I looking at?
It's gone now :(
So what ended up happening? I just got up..
So what ended up happening? I just got up..
They pushed the debate to next year instead of right now. This will be a good idea to get the word out more on SOPA. Or to start illegal data smuggling, where you can sell websites, videos, pictures, games or music on hard drives and thumb drives, while being chased by the government. It worked for beer smugglers when alcohol was illegalized.
Next year as in 12 months or next year as in January?
12 months. EDIT Apparently it's sooner than that. Sorry.
Good job everybody, mission accomplished, for now.
They pushed the debate to next year instead of right now.
Typical Congress: why do today what you can push up into tomorrow? Hey, at least the internet is disappearing... for now.
Good job everybody, mission accomplished, for now.
Eh eh, the Judiciary scheduled the rest of SOPA markup for next Wednesday, Dec 21.
Ok, just let me recap to see if I have this straight. Sopa won't be pushed in till next year, because one of the supporters used his final brain cell to adjourn it until next year, correct? And Obama, if he vetos it, can do something called a pocket veto to stop his veto from being shot down by congress, although I don't know the specifics, so I could be wrong.. Meaning we have until next year to pound it through their diamond reinforced skulls that we're completely screwed, something that with time gets more likely. If I have this correct, then we can look up for a while. If not, I'm going to need more whiskey.
Typical Congress: why do today what you can push up into tomorrow? Hey, at least the internet is disappearing... for now.
We should have acted. They're already here. The media outlets told of their return. Their defeat was merely a delay, 'till the time after Smith's mouth opened, When the sons of the Internet would spill their own blood. But nobody wanted to believe, believe they even existed. And when the truth finally dawned, it dawns in firewalls! [editline]16th December 2011[/editline] I apologize for that post.
If we forget about this, your post will become a reality, SGTNAPALM. Next year isn't actually too far away, since it is December right now. So really, a few months. We must turn the Stop Online Piracy Act into the Stopped Online Piracy Act.

LOFGREN. "Yield your time!" *chorus* - Look what you made me do.
From an article on techdirt. Update.... Or not. Despite the fact that Congress was supposed to be out of session until the end of January, the Judiciary Committee has just announced plans to come back to continue the markup this coming Wednesday. This is rather unusual and totally unnecessary. But it shows just how desperate Hollywood is to pass this bill as quickly as possible, before the momentum of opposition builds up even further. SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT
So if anything, I'm gonna begin an underground resistance comp network...Anyone interested? You'll also need to dig out your old Dial-Ups & a war dialer...
EFF tweeted this a few hours ago Reports of #SOPA's death have been greatly exaggerated. Markup will resume 12/21.
Take it off the internet and bring it onto the streets! You can't live your life through a computer. Turn off your teevee's, you're being hypnotized by news broadcasts, politicians, school teachers, etc.
My congressman is already against it. I don't know what else I can do short of burning down offices
With this and the NDAA, why don't you question the implications of these? Imagine if the government wanted to draft most of the population into war without proper reason - the internet would act as a deterrent to this, enabling people to convey truth of what's happening whereas without the internet, none of the atrocities would get reported! So even if this doesn't pass and another appears in the future, defend against that like the last with all your power and repeat - never let go of the internet.

SOPA has NOT been postponed to 2012! The Committee members who support SOPA quietly changed the hearing date to the 21st, trying to trick the American people into thinking it was over for the year. This is dirty politics and should be illegal. Fight back. Let them know this is not over.
