i would like it if google or wikipedia go through with the threat to blank their website for the day, or replace all their search results with information about SOPA to get more of the general public involved.

This just seems like an eye for an eye tactics. Using highly influential companies to get personal goals come true. In this case I believe you're right however.
I fucking hate my generation. Talk about the fate of the internet on Facebook nobody comments or likes it. If I made a funny alcohol/drug/sexual joke I'm swarmed with likes.

Well there's your problem. You're talking about something relevant on facebook.
Remember, knowing is half the battle.

Sorry for posting this if it's pointless and stupid. I just thought it was educational and interesting.
Funny, it starts all over again on the same date i'm out of school, because of holidays. Oh boy, I know what I be watching that night.
I'm not from the US, but what can I do to help against this?
I don't know, convince your country to invade or something.
[sp]joking[/sp]
I will not, nor ever, accept out new government overlords.
SOPA has NOT been postponed to 2012! The Committee members who support SOPA quietly changed the hearing date to the 21st, trying to trick the American people into thinking it was over for the year. This is dirty politics and should be illegal. Fight back. Let them know this is not over.
Those bastards are going to regret this eventually...
Sweet Jesus.

I don't know much about this site, or how accurate it is, but if it's true it's pretty damning.

"Interest groups that support this bill gave 8.1 times as much as interest groups that oppose this bill."

Is it true that the NDAA passed? Heard people raging about it at work, can't find a source anywhere.

Sheesh, I'm worried and I'm in Canada! Looks like if this passes there will be lot's of immigrants over here, better say this now:
Welcome to Canada, our politicians are pretty stupid as well,
But they they wouldn't do anything like this,
and even if they do,
They respect peoples rights and listen.

Except for Ottawa's city council, but they just do a bunch of useless crap instead.

Honestly, I dont mind useless crap as long as they dont do anything really bad.
I think this quote sums it up.
I don’t understand the entertainment companies’ end game here. They’ve gone beyond obtuse to straight up maniacal. Do they think if they manage to shut down every bit of copyright infringement on the internet, that sales are going to suddenly skyrocket? Do they think people have some secret horde of cash that they’ve just been waiting to blow on DVDs and CDs, but haven’t because of The Pirate Bay’s existence?
From this article.

Well, looks like we're fucked.

The worst things they've done so far are forcing people to pay 50 dollars for fancy compost bins and making special bus stop shelters specifically for bicycles, so really they're more annoying than they are scary.
Welcome to the United Corporations of America, where money is power.

We got ours for free... everyone around here did.
I still do not get why you are legally allowed to pay off congressmen.

It's probably because the bribes are being rebranded as "donations", and since the first thing that comes into your head when you think of the word "donation" is "goodwill", it apparently makes it all okay.
Ugh.

In order to do that they had corporations be considered as people, not companies.
huge system of paying for influence

Can someone please tell me why the RIAA are pirating TV shows and music?
Go ahead and laugh at me, but I'm scared as fuck of this bill. Dark times ahead.

You're not the only one.
Like I said before, there won't be fucking mass hysteria the instant the bill is signed into law.
The government will slowly take over the internet. Waiting, watching, and pouncing on all the websites hollywood deems as inappropriate.
Facebook won't disappear overnight, neither will youtube or any other MAJOR sites. Just expect more and more videos being removed and less privacy.
SOPA and NDAA is just the first steps into a police state. I feel they are pushing these bills so that when the economy finally collapses and there is massive inflation, the government can control the citizens and their greatest ally, the internet.

So we're fucked slowly and painfully instead of surprise buttsex.
Great.

Though people who are interested in the SOPA debacle might be interested in this.

A reddit thread with 8 minutes and no replies? That's eerie.
