Sign petitions, raise awareness and so on.
Scroll down a bit until you see "Not in the us? Petition the state department"
this makes me sad
[sub][sub]WARNING! THE NEXT VOTE FOR SOPA IS TUESDAY NEXT WEEK.THIS NEXT VOTE IS A KEY VOTE. If the result of the vote is "no", SOPA is permanently dropped. If the result of the vote is "yes", then SOPA is taken into privacy and we will not be informed of any further changes to the bill. These changes that can possibly happen include corrections to fix the bill's problems, the clause we just got dropped from the bill, or worse, copying the text of SOPA into another bill against child pornography - which has no chance of being veto'd. WE HAVE UNTIL TUESDAY NEXT WEEK TO CHANGE THE MIND OF OUR SENATORS AND GET SOPA DROPPED.
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Lamar Smith (R-Texas) announced on Friday that he will postpone consideration of his Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) until there is wider agreement on the controversial legislation.
"I have heard from the critics and I take seriously their concerns regarding proposed legislation to address the problem of online piracy," Smith said. "It is clear that we need to revisit the approach on how best to address the problem of foreign thieves that steal and sell American inventions and products."
Smith's announcement came just minutes after Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) announced he would shelve the Senate's version of the anti-piracy legislation, the Protect IP Act.
The move is a stunning acknowledgment of failure for the powerful chairman.
Smith was the author of SOPA and its most vocal proponent. He had repeatedly said the bill did not need to be changed and accused the critics of "spreading lies."
But support for the bill collapsed after a massive Web protest on Wednesday. Major sites including Google and Wikipedia either shut down in protest or displayed messages opposing the legislation.

until there is wider agreement on the controversial legislation.
"everyone hates my bill, I am delaying the vote to drop it until everyone likes it"
What's useful about this is, until SOPA is voted on, the House and Senate can't discuss the child pornography version of the bill until SOPA is voted on, becaquse of target subject being too similar
All this is, is just the US trying to do what China is doing and have as much power as they possibly can. If SOPA passes, the last thing I will do is download as many fucking torrents as I can. :suicide:
Ah,but what am I going to do with all these backup files now? Oh well.
