Just saying, I hardly ever hear Stairway on the radio (in terms of Zeppelin songs). Usually I hear Heartbreaker/Living Loving Maid, Rock and Roll, or Over the Hills and Far Away.

My dad and I had gone to pick up my brother from his girlfriend's house and when we were waiting for him stairway came on the car radio, so we turned the engine off and sat in silence.
My brother turned up just before the solo and he said "what is this garbage" so we both politely told him to shut the fuck up and we didn't drive off until the song was finished
huh
never liked led zeppelin
Great
Do you want a medal
excuse me i believe this is the 70's rock thread
no derails plz
huh

Have you listened to enough of their stuff? They have a very wide variety of styles. I'd be bewildered if there wasn't a single song of theirs you liked.

yeah well liking a song of theirs is different from liking the band
They're a great band but they are horrendously overrated, nowhere near as good as people make them out to be
I know this for a fact
Led Zeppelin are fucking awesome. Their live stuff is where it's at. Overrated? Give me a fucking break.
I've listened to all of it since I was about 9
I know what I'm talking about
I'm sure you have. Have you listened to every studio album? Have you seen the DVD and the Song Remains the same album? Have you listened to all the bootlegs, the video bootleg from Seattle 1977? Led Zeppelin are a band you must explore to enjoy. They have a variety of music, all sorts of styles. Very few bands touch them. Each member was incredibly talented and in at least the top 5 of their respective instrument. They are untouchable.
Yes you idiot I grew up with LZ
Woah watch out internet tough guy. That's great you grew up with the, but that doesn't necessarily mean you've seen all they've had to offer.
ok?
you said they were untouchable
they aren't, as influential as they were, the beatles wrote better songs
and the riffs on raw power cannot be beat

The beatles were great, but led zeppelin wrote better riffs. Jimmy page, as far as I'm concerned, is the greatest riff creator. As far as being untouchable, I didn't see a lot of other bands exploring different styles, different instruments, utilizing all sorts of tones, among other things. Jimmy page created backwards echo.

well the beatles didn't write riffs anyway
and i see a shit load of bands do that you must be critically malnourished of music
and no listen to revolver, there's backwards echo on that and it predates the song where jimmy page claimed to have invented backwards echo
Which songs have the backwards echo on the album?
A lot of bands did, but none like Zeppelin. Zeppelin didn't do them all perfect, but they did hard rock, blues rock and folk rock like gods.

Although Elton is more considered to be pop nowadays, back then he was certainly considered one of the biggest players on the Rock and Roll scene from 71'-79'
Leon Russell, although overlooked by many (myself included until somewhat recently), was one of the most well respected Rock musicians amongst many artists in the 70's.

And then there's Billy Preston, who just freaking rocks

Leon Russell, graduated from a high school in my hometown. Also I live in the same town as Garth Brooks, sometimes you can see him at braums.

Let's see
1. Listened to the discography back to front god knows how many times
2. Seen virtually all LZ media I can get my hands on
I have seen all they have to offer, they have more fame than they deserve

Eh, disagree.
That's fine, you can do that
Just don't tell me that I haven't seen enough LZ to be telling the truth

Or what I think at least
I didn't know, so whatev.
Who cares if Led Zep were a good band or not if people liked them it doesn't matter
What. We ended this discussion hours ago.
This is true
the joke: the rock you think of wasn't the big thing in the 70s
More like Rock and Roll for the aged.
