I actually await this being put into practice within the next 30 years.
We should build lazer guns, and live in space.

Get out of here stalker.
Exoskeletons I think are a horrible idea to be used in combat.
But when they become affordable and more efficient, they be great to use for carrier crews to load explosive ordinance on jets/helicopters.
Because what if in combat, the enemy shoot your power source/hydraulic lines for your exoskeleton, it be a big hunk of metal, and even to reinforce all the weak points on it, slow it down then.
+ too much money to do.
OP just got back from seeing Iron Man.
If it were to be fielded I doubt it'd cost anything even close to what the military spends on jet fighters and shit right now
Refer to this handy diagrahm

Cost of developing it, plus cost of actually mass producing it and training people to make it would cost way more than it would to make an F-16.
we spend almost enough money on our highways as we do in elementary schools?
neato. Next up, DOE merges with DOT. Classes will be held on your local interstate.

No I didn't.
Exoskeletons would allow soldiers to carry heavier weapons. Imagine if all of the soldiers could be armed with LMGs instead of assault rifles.
I think there is an obvious tactical disadvantage there.
We need Space Marine armor.

My friend is in the Army in Iraq and he says Dragon Skin sucks. The plates break too easy.

The Future Weapons episode on Dragon Skin was too optimistic.
After further testing, they revealed that the Dragon Skin was only better than kevlar in a few aspects but otherwise was inferior to it.
Do your research before you say stuff like that. :v:
After further testing, they revealed that the Dragon Skin was only better than kevlar in a few aspects but otherwise was inferior to it.
Making a material superior to kevlar isn't much of an accomplishment.
Kevlar isn't some godly material like everyone seems to think, it's protective capabilities are limited to shrapnel and pistol rounds. Hard composite armour such as ballistic ceramics is the rifle round stopping stuff.
I wanna be a beetle too :frown:

don't forget the poor angular and repeated hit protection
Fun to draw, hard to make.
With things like Carbon nanotubes (the most insane material ever) and assorted other tech you could be well on your way to producing a Nanosuit.

In development in Japan too :v:

The idea behind nanosuits are needlessly sophisticated. With the right arrangement of hydraulics, you could easily enable full bodily movement and full physical enhancement.
Even if they were created, they most certainly won't look like a homoerotic spandex gimp suit thing like in crysis, or offer all the same abilities.

Oh, and a power source too.
I don't think a person needs to be carrying around jet missiles.
I don't think a person needs to be carrying around jet missiles.
The jet missiles were just used as a comparison.
Imagine if instead of the jet missiles, he would have 2 .50-cal's. And the exoskeleton would ofcourse counter any recoil.
[editline]05:31PM[/editline]
It would look like the exoskeletons in the Matrix actually, just in smaller scale.
I don't think a person needs to be carrying around jet missiles.
But it would be easier to load a plane if you're on an Aircraft Carrier.
Exoskeletons will probably be used in non-combat roles long before they have combat roles.
